It was Hugo's lasssttt year in this school and he made sure he was looking good on his last first day. As always. The seventh year strolled down the hall towards his table, wearing his Prefect badge and looking for a familiar face. There was Maggie, Brooklyn, Hady, new kids and...that's it. Yeah. No Dante, yet.
"Congrats Hady" said with a smile, she deserved it. "Where's Frankie?" He knew the Gryffindor was the Head Boy and wanted to congratulate him as well. And now, he had to welcome everyone, right? He looked around, "Hello everyone! Welcome back! And to the new Slytherins, welcome to the best house!" Hope you all behave .

Speaking of Gryffindors, one had apparently invaded their table to speak to another of the new faces, and Brooklyn had gone back to paying more attention to the staff table. If anything, she might be able to learn something just through observation. Although that was going to be difficult as her view was temporarily blocked by a certain blonde. “Maggie,” she said politely, giving her dorm mate a nod before shifting so she could continue her examination of the new professors. Obviously Hady had made the same decision, as she noticed the arrival of the head girl. She’d given her the usual nod and smile, noting how concerned her friend seemed about something or another. Maybe the sheer number of new professors for their last term?
She’d gotten distracted, however, as the other person she’d sort of been looking for earlier had suddenly arrived and sat by Maggie. “Hi.” For a moment she was tempted to make sure that Dante wasn’t hiding under the table or anything, but she chose not to. Instead, she just started to wonder, glancing over as she heard Ariadne’s exuberant greeting but generally not saying anything. There wasn’t much to say without her wanting to ask questions that probably shouldn’t be asked in present company. She hadn’t forgotten the interrogation by Maggie last term either, after all. Politeness was a good thing and Maggie didn't mind that Brooklyn chose not to say a whole lot more. Right now she didn't really have anything to talk to the other girl about anyway. And she really wasn't one for smalltalk. But sitting with her dormmate was still acceptable, they were both SEVENTH years after all and you really couldn't get any cooler than that.
Okay, maybe if you're a seventh year with a BADGE.
Not that she was saying that Hugo was cooler than herself. But certainly cooler than Brooklyn. "Hugo! Hey!" Maggie beamed at him as he sat down next to her. Good to see you. She even leaned over to give him a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek. The latter might have been more for Brooklyn's benefit than anything else but she didn't let that show.

June sat in the general vicinity of that girl with the badge and another girl that looked her age too. She didn't say a word, she just looked around at the giant room, the teachers up there, the painting, the friggin AWEsOME ceiling and still tried to grasp the concept that she was going to be in a castle for the next several months.
Weird. There were people at their table. People that didn't belong here.
Maggie eyed the young Gryffindor (Dora) for a long moment. Seriously, didn't she have her own people to bother? "Yes, she is new. But not to your house." She finally said to the Gryffindor, giving her a smile filled with feigned sweetness.
Translation: Go back to your own house table.
As for said new Slytherin, Maggie decided she was worth introducing herself to. She HAD been sorted into Slytherin after all. That had to account for something. "Hi. I'm Maggie." Pause. "Magdalena Traulton, actually, but my friends call me Maggie." She even added a smile for the newcomer. "That over there is my very good friend Hady. She's the new Head Girl." Yes, Hady got a wave and a smile too.
And what was up with Ariadne yelling like that? Maggie wrinkled her nose in her general direction. |
