Anyone who thought that the Defence Professor wouldn't put in an area in the common room dedicated to his subject were wrong. Conveniently placed as far away from the study tables and library as possible, this practice area has been sectioned off and looks almost bare in comparison to the others. However, it's also an area which could probably get pretty loud at the best of times.

The Practice Area is an area for anyone and everyone to practice a bit of spellwork and, in particular, defensive magic. It's an area that has its own protective little bubble, lest any of the spells fly out from the area and hit an innocent bystander. Sitting near the corner of the area and backed up against a wall are various practice dummies, exactly like the ones that can be found in the Dueling Arena and the Defence Training Arena on the first floor. These dummies are free to use by anyone and can be activated to move by a simple tap of the wand.
