Riane held her mother's hand tightly as they walked toward Ollivander's Wand Shop. Like most other first years, she had been waiting for this moment nearly her entire life. Images flashed through Riane's head as she thought of all the different kinds of wands that might choose her.
As they entered the store, her mother's hand relaxed and Riane let go, anxious to run ahead and be measured. She was so excited, she was just barely able to resist sneaking her way up closer to avoid waiting any longer.
She jittered with joy as the measuring tape analysed her, and her mother had to remind her to try to hold still. Before long, Riane was back by her mother's side, waiting for her turn for her wand to find her.
