Today Isa was finally going to get her very own wand! She had been waiting for her entire life for this moment. Well, most of it at least. Ever since Penny had gotten her wand before going to Hogwarts, Isa had wanted to have a wand and go to Hogwarts like Penny did. At long last, she was actually old enough to get her wand. She was so excited! Here she was, with Mum and Penny, getting her wand! She couldn't wait to hold her wand in her hand for the first time.

It was time for her youngest daughter to get her wand. Soon, Isabel would be off to Hogwarts and Penelope would be headed to university in Edinburgh. There would be no children left at home, and Elizabeth would greatly miss them. It seemed like only yesterday Isabel was just a tiny 4 year old and Penelope was leaving for Hogwarts the first time. She would miss both girls, and this year would be extra emotional because both of the girls were going away to start at new schools. Penelope was all grown up, 18 today, and Elizabeth had something special planned for Penelope later. Although the day itself was a milestone for her older daughter, this particular moment was about her younger daughter getting her first wand. Penelope had insisted that for her birthday she wanted to go with Isabel to see her get her wand because Penelope had missed so many other important parts of Isa's life while she was away at Hogwarts. Elizabeth reached down to hug Isa and looked her in the eye. "Go and get measured over there so they can find the right wand for you. We'll be waiting right here for you."

Penelope was so proud of Isa, already old enough for her first wand. Isa had grown up so fast, and Penelope had missed so much of Isa's life being away at Hogwarts. It seemed like only yesterday Isa had been a small child clinging to Penelope's leg on the platform at King's Cross and begging her not to go away to school. Now it would be Isa's turn to be the one going off to Hogwarts. After a quick hug for Isa, Penelope watched her little sister head to the measuring area to be fitted for her wand.

Nodding in response to Mum and Penny, Isa headed over to the measuring tape. Patiently she held her arms out and stood still so the measuring tape could get her measurements. Did the length of he arms and her height affect which wand would be right for her? Penny had said that the wand chooses you and bonds to you. Sometimes wands that were bonded to a person didn't like other people trying to use it. Isa had always been told not to touch Penny's wand because it only liked Penny. She wasn't really sure how a wand could choose someone or know who's using it. Wands were weird. The measuring tape snapped itself shut. Isa looked over to Mum and Penny who nodded in encouragement and pointed her in the direction of the counter. Isa walked away from the measuring area and headed over to the wand fitting area. Wand here she comes!
