"Yeah I guess," said Kitty with a shrug in reply to Rooney's question on if she was excited for the summer. "Are you?" Although he was their prefect, Kitty did not know much about him at all. She turned her attention to Azura next, who had just joined them and who was looking very happy. "Hey Azura. I'm fine, how are you? Looking forward to summer?" It was the question Rooney had just asked her, but it seemed like the most appropriate question for end of term feasts. Hadley was also asking her that question. "We haven't planned anything," she said with another shrug. "Mom will be happy when I'm back. I wrote her about the Hag." Kitty shuddered. This time she didn't think the nightmares would ever go away.
It was then that Penelope arrived. Kitty was startled to see tears coming out of her eyes. At first she was not sure why, but then she spoke and Kitty remembered that this was her last year at Hogwarts. It was heartbreaking to imagine coming to Hogwarts and Penny not being there.
Overcome with emotion, Kitty had just been to hug Penelope but Hadley got there first. When she was done Kitty followed her example and hugged her, tears forming in her own eyes. "I'll definitely write you," she promised. "And I won't ever forget you. I won't ever forget how you came to get me from under the table after the food fight, or how you taught us to turn invisible and all the other things about you. You were the best head girl ever." If she went on any longer she knew she would start crying. She let go of Penny and took a step back, blinking to clear tears. "I would be honored to take care of Aquila if you want me too, unless someone else really wants to. Or I could share the responsibility with someone else if that would be better." |
