"How are you doing? Now that I am back things in the floo division can run as they are meant to." That was... partly a joke and partly true because really she did a lot of good work and some of the people in the department were idiots. Okay, not SOME, most. "I'll let you know and of course I will get all my work done. I can get that and mommy time in." Gabby was amazing like that but then she was amazing at everything that she did.
Nice today? Pfft. Try nice all the time. "Did you hear that, Valeria? Auntie Lynley likes your pretty dress and bow." BEAM. "You sure you don't want to hold her?" Because she could. Lynley just.....stared at the baby. "When will you be putting her in the daycare?" And not bringing her in here? Hmmm? "And yes, I DO like your dress, missy," she wiggled a finger at the child and did her best baby voice she could manage (which wasn't very baby-voice-y at all) and smiled........a little.
Babies were hard for Lynley, okay?
"And no, I don't want to hold her, I'm fine,'" she said with pursed lips, losing the smile completely. "She's safe--all packaged up in her carrier." She gave Valeria's toy a little shake in the hopes the child might at least like that. Give Lynley a smile or something? She didn't know what she even wanted to do as far as...having a baby in the office. "Just...I mean--if she cries--you should take her in the front desk area, yeah?"
