Potions taught by the prominent Potion Master
Cosgrach Fionnlagh Culloden

Fire-Breathing Potion

Use/Effect: Tickles and warms up the person you've breathed on pleasantly, cures the breather from small illnesses like flu and fever

Ingredients
  • 3 goose feathers (chopped WELL that they look like powder)
  • 5 centimetre square of parasites (mycosis fungus)
  • Roughly 2 centimetre square fire-crab shell (prepared)
  • One fire slug
  • 8 drops of salamander blood
  • Some flobberworm mucus (depends on how much rigidity one wants—no more than a tablespoon)

Instructions
  1. Fill your cauldron 1/3 with water.
  2. Add powdered goose feather.
  3. Stir clock-wise until it looks homogenous.
  4. Turn the heater to high.
  5. Get your pestle and mortar, crush the parasites, fill the mortar halfway with water and add it slowly to the potion.
  6. Stir counter clock-wise for 7 times and turn off the heater.
  7. Let it cool until no vapour is seen. This should take about 5 minutes.
  8. Do not add the fire crab shell! Hold it with a metal spoon, lower it nicely into the potion just inside the surface—make sure it doesn’t splash water AT ALL—then start stirring 1 time clockwise, 1 time counter clockwise for 12 times in total. Each stir should take about ten seconds for it to spread thoroughly. Once done with stirring, get it out and put it away.
  9. Wait for another minute, then add the slugs—stay away from the cauldron as far as you can. If you’ve done everything correctly, the surface should explode harmlessly and start burning. Put it out with your breath ONLY.
  10. Add 8 drops of salamander blood.
  11. Alternate between two stirs counter-clock wise, two stirs clock-wise. Take two seconds’ break between each group of stirs. Repeat for four times. (So you should stir 16 times in total.)
  12. Add flobberworm’s mucus to keep it in your mouth better (no more than a tablespoon)
  13. Enjoy.

  • One hellebore’s syrup
  • Two puffer-fish eyes
  • One leech
  • One water-dwelling planaria
  • One middle-sized pomegranate’s juice

  2. Crush asphodel roots in mortar.
  3. Add 0,2 litre of seal milk to the cauldron.
  4. Turn the heater to high for a minute, then lower to medium.
  5. Add hellebore syrup.
  6. Make a small cut at the back of the puffer-fish eyes and squish them to the cauldron. Add ONLY their liquid.

  • It may be used as many times as one wishes, because it doesn’t have any known side effects.
  • It may be used on animals too, but it will kill plants.

Strength Potion

Effect: Enables you to be as strong as to lift a muggle car (roughly a ton) for half a day

Ingredients
  • 2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn’t matter)
  • 1 pomegranate
  • A cup of re’em blood
  • One mature salamander’s blood
  • 2 unicorn tail hairs
  • Powdered griffin claw
  • 2 snake fangs

Instructions
  1. Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
  2. Turn the heat to high and add the dragon heart
  3. Wait until it boils and add pomegranate
  4. Turn the heater to medium and wait for five minutes. In the meantime, mix re’em and salamander blood in a bowl and stir them five times clockwise and five times counter clockwise and crush griffin claw (doesn't have to be a perfect powder - just crush as well as you can withOUT magic).
  5. Add the blood mixture slowly and THEN, the powdered griffin claw IMMEDIATELY.
  6. Wait for ten minutes and add one snake fang
  7. Put the fire out and add the other snake fang
  8. Stir counter clockwise once
  9. Drink a cup of the potion in one go, while still hot

Extra Notes
  • Tastes like metal
  • Good for anaemia or lack of iron
  • Do not drink more for longer duration, but rather drink another cup after you feel it’s wearing off. If you drink more than a cup, it will make you feel too dizzy to stand straight.
  • To conserve for a week after brewing, add a cup of ice from pure water
  • The colour is bright yellow
  • For the first few minutes after drinking, sit and let your body and muscles adjust to it. Once you feel fresh, go around being super strong, and don't worry: you can control it.
  • You can omit the heart part by adding a glass of water, counting to 18 and adding pomegranate. You can also not mix Re’em blood at all and add another pomegranate instead, but this will reduce the effect to one tenth.

  • The base can be stored for up to to years at room temperature away from direct sunlight, but after an animal part is added, it should be consumed in a month.

Amortentia

Effect: Love potions cause a infatuation or obsession for the brewer or the first person seen. Amortentia is the most powerful.

Ingredients
  • 8 flower heads of sneezewort (seperate the petals beforehand)
  • 8 berries of atropa belladonna
  • 8 chopped leaves of Alihotsy (prepared beforehand)
  • One frozen ashwinder egg broken in 8
  • 8 tea spoons of powdered moonstone
  • All the thorns of 8 roses
  • 8 drops of salamander blood
  • 8 table spoons of peppermint

Instructions
  1. Prepare the sneezewort, alihotsy and moonstone.
  2. Fill the cauldron with purified water and add the sneezewort petals
  3. Light a fire under the cauldron and set it to maximum
  4. Add the heads of the sneezewort
  5. Stir 8 times clockwise with a metal stick
  6. Add the berries of atropa bellandonna one by one
  7. Sprinkle Alihotsy leaves in a circle in clockwise direction
  8. Wave your wand. The colour should turn to dark red

  10. In the meantime, break the egg into 8. If you break it into more pieces accidentally, get another egg.

  12. Stir vigorously clockwise with a metal stick until the colour is purple
  13. Sprinkle the moonstone in the middle of the cauldron
  14. Throw all the thorns in quickly
  15. Add the drops of salamander blood one by one: with each drop, observe that the potion turns to its distinctive mother-of-pearl sheen.
  16. Add the peppermint spoon by spoon. Stir clockwise with a metal stick slowly until it dissolves.
  17. Wave your wand again.
  18. Put off the fire when you see the spiral steams and smell its aroma.

Extra notes
  • The duration of the effects (usually up to 24 hours) vary depending on factors such as the weight of the person drinking the potion and the attractiveness of the person with whom the potion is supposed to make the drinker obsessed. The effects wear off naturally over time, but can be renewed by administering further doses of potion. Therefore, there is no overdose.
  • The effect is near instantaneous: the drinker appears "pale and sickly" and becomes obsessed with the brewer or the first person seen and excited or dangerously unstable towards others.
  • A hate potion can cancel out love potions and vice versa. There is also a proper antidote.
  • The brewer doesn't have to be present for the effect if it's that sort of love potion.
  • The drinker does not forget what he or she did while under its influence.
  • Love potions mature over time; so the longer it is kept, the stronger it will be.
  • Amortentia's characteristics are a distinctive mother-of-pearl sheen and spiral steams. Its aroma is different for everyone and reminds each person of the things that they find most attractive, even if they don't acknowledge or are unaware of their fondness themselves.
  • The smell of Amortentia can change as you see new things and people.
  • Life advice from Blaise Bellaire: You should NEVER give a love potion to a girl who's bigger than you and throws a harder punch 'cause when it wears off she'll remember everything and beat the living Circe out of you. It causes strong dislike after.
