He noticed that she was cleaning up a cauldron. “Vhat ist vour spet-…spet…” pause; internal sigh. “Focus?” Adam was not good at small talk so he hoped she understood his question. In fact, small talk usually made him nervous because he was afraid he was going to say something stupid, especially since his English wasn’t very good as evidenced by the fact that he couldn’t remember the word “specialty.” Even in his familiar German, however Adam wasn’t that smooth of a talker. Perhaps that was one of the reasons he had gotten into potion making. It didn’t require much chit-chat. It wasn’t that Adam didn’t like talking, he just wasn’t very good at verbal communication.
Opening a draw, Adam pulled out a small container and stood up. He pulled a round tank full of orange fish forward. If one looked closely enough, they’d see that the fish gave off a faint greenish-orange glow. He opened the contained and pinched some food to drop into the tank. The fish happily began eating and a low humming noise started to emanate from the tank, but at that point, Addison spoke.
Perfect? He thought. Funny, he had been expecting to have to explain his reasoning regarding a few of his items, especially the chocolate request(s). As it turned out, Adam was happy he didn’t have to plead his case. “Wunderbar!” he exclaimed happily. The sooner he got the chocolate and Lovage plant he could get on with his next concoction experiment. Sam couldn't help the small smile as the man worked out his sentence. She let him finish before responding. "Yes and no I suppose. I'm relatively new. I started here," she gestured to the room at large, "as a Charmist but I have been moved over to the Thought Chamber as a Subconscious Specialist!" She was quite enthusiastic about this. Not to say she hadn't enjoyed learning about love, but it hadn't been as captivating to her as learning about the Brain. "What is your goal here?" she asked. She could connect the dots that he was a Potioneer, but she wondered what he hoped to accomplish in the Ever-Locked Room. |
