Noelle looked around the urns and saw Az with Tenacious. She wasn't about to bother them so she skimmed through the class, trying to find an urn that looked different.
Unsuccessful.
So instead, Noelle took a spot in between Henric and (Arielle) a girl she had seen before in classes but never had spoken to. "Henric!" She said and waved in his direction and then turned to the other side and offered her hand to the girl. Hi! I'm Noelle." Noelle just got her introduction in before the professor was walking in.
Hmmmm. Curse-breaking. This might be a fun class after all.
Noelle remembered how hard it was to break the curse last lesson. But one thing thing stood out to her about that lesson. "I remember a human can't touch the box if a human put a curse on it." At least she hoped that was something. She's forgotten to bring her notes from the last class. " On the right track, but not quite, Miss Summers," Tiara responded. " Only certain curses are activated by human touch, not all of them." Quote:

She raised her hand at the question and spoke. "Curse breaking is dangerous and you need to be constantly vigilant and not trust anything. Your life could depend on it." Yup.. That much she had learned.. " Correct, Miss Kennedy." Generic, but still correct. Quote:

Thinking back on what she had learned, she raised her hand. "I remember that in order to break the curse you need a proper understanding of it." Which could be done with that handy spell they had learned. Tiara nodded. " You do indeed. And if you cannot figure it out, it is much better to just back away than to plow ahead courageously." She put air quotes around the last word. Quote:

Thinking a moment as she listened to her classmates, Sky raised her hand "A knowledge of numbers and their meanings is important to the fundamentals and deciphering what curse you are dealing with and how to break it." Very true, that answer. " Numbers are the very essence of deciphering and breaking a curse. Though we will be dedicating our time more to the deciphering than the breaking, which is Professor Hirsch's territory." Just as a side note of what to expect. Quote:

He cast a charming grin at the both of them before returning his attention back to the professor. Soon the class was starting and a question was thrown at them. To be honest, their last lesson was quite complex. Arithmancy wasn't his strongest subject, but he had learnt so much from it. Henric raised his hand, "We need to have a proper approach or defense against them. Most of the cursed objects are meant to cause harm so we have to be very careful with them." Most of the cursed objects? Tiara wanted to know what other types of cursed objects there were besides those that wanted to cause harm somehow, but she refrained from asking Henric. " Indeed, caution is duly merited, Mister Nicolei." She hoped for a better answer next time from the Head Boy, who was (rightfully or not) held to a higher standard because of his badge. Quote:

He was staring intently at the urn in front of him, wondering what kind of curse it held, when Professor Tanner started speaking. While listening to some of his classmates' answers, he thought back to that other curse-breaking lesson they had. So what did he remember about it? Finally something vame to him and his hand shot up. "I remember that you can use a sequence of numbers to figure out what kind of curse is on an object," he said. " Good good. That is where the arithmancy comes into play in the curse breaking, which would otherwise be strictly for your Defense professor." Quote:

Oh so this is a carry over from the last cursebreaking class? Good because he really want to hone his skulls further. But what did he learn from the last time? "Read instructions carefully, and its better to be over cautious than under estimate the curse then boom your dead." Another generic response that could be given without even attending the prior lesson. In fact, none of the answers so far had been highly enlightening. She was hoping someone would give some specifics soon. " I trust we will not have anyone going 'boom' today however, right Mister Salander?" At least he hadn't called her 'sir' again. Quote:

Curse breaking. The Second Year had enjoyed the previous lesson ... but could not remember specifics. He tried hard to remember something and raised his hand. "The spell arithmos revelio scindo helps you get the series of numbers." He said. Finally, someone mentioned the main tool in their arsenal! " Excellent! And remember, class, whilst speaking the incantation, you move your wand from its starting place pointing at the object upwards in tighter and tighter spirals." One of her favorite wand movements, actually.
She flicked her wand and writing appeared on the left side of the board. Quote: Parts of a Curse (in order)
Basis - What the spell affects
Kernel/Core - What the spell does
Range - What/how the spell is activated
Cline/Type - What kind of spell it is (2 single digits)
" The different parts of the curse are posted for your ease of access." Because she knew they did not all have their textbooks, their notes, or either of the two. Once more she flicked her wand, and a second list appeared on the right. SPOILER!!: Number Meanings List
0: Decay, nothingness, cessation ~Hyperventilation, panic
1: Beginning, independence, innovation, leadership, verbal expression ~Numbness, cold
2: Harmony, unity, relationships, collaboration, duality, humans ~Blisters, burning
3: Imagination, house elves/house elf magic, complex thought ~Itching, pain
4: Endurance, sober-mindedness, practicality, complexity ~Warts, pustules
5: Change, freedom, physical world, physical touch ~Shaking, tingling
6: Balance, nurturing, family focus, domestic and work issues, stability ~Dizziness, disorientation
7: Analysis, wisdom, spiritual focus, magic ~Nausea, vomiting
8: Authority, self-mastery, fluidity, movement ~Fever, thirst
9: Endings, metamorphosis, power/strength, short-lived, immediacy ~Weakness, fainting
" This was the list of meanings given to you. However, you may notice that it looks a bit different because I have now added to the list." She did not want to overwhelm them with too many options right away in the first lesson, after all. " The words in red are specifically to be used for the kernel only, and they help to tell what kind of attack you will be under. In reality, there are whole separate lists for each part, but we are sticking with the basic lists for now." And any curse she threw at them would only use these meanings, so that was all they needed.
She had wanted to get right to the practical, and so they would. " Right then. You have what you need. The rest of the class is time for you to practice. You may pair up or work alone, and feel free to call me over if you need me!" Like, if they thought they were about to pass out or something, they should check with her first. " I do have potions ready to take that counter the effects of each curse if something gets triggered, so no worries about permanent damage! Also.. each vessel contains various flavors of Honeydukes fudge, so the more the merrier!" OOC: This is really an open RP, so be creative! If you want your charrie to get blisters all over, go for it! To help me, please title your posts with the numerization of the curse you're currently working on so I don't have to hunt. This lesson thread will be open until Friday or Saturday depending on you guys. Feel free to VM/PM/Skype me if you have questions or I forgot to include something!
Possible curses your charrie could encounter:
~2 7 15 4 4
~62 65 15 9 9
~2 22 57 4 9
~23 34 27 9 4
