Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch "Sure is a good thing," he responded with a nod of his head. It was certainly much better having someone around to talk to rather than staring at the pendulum and that strangely placed window. Had be been waiting any longer, he might have decided to just swing from the pendulum. Surprisingly, he still had yet to do that after all these years at Hogwarts.
He didn't care how childish he was being right now. It was his birthday, so he could act however and do whatever he wanted. That was how birthdays worked, right? Even when one turned the prime age of seventeen?
"For a moment you have me worrying, Hads," he admitted seriously. The smile was still on his face, however. "No one gives me books for a reason." He mostly used them to balance or set things on, their covers unopened and pages crying to be read. "But I'll definitely be reading this one. Promise." Or he'd have her read bits of it to him. Either way, that book wasn't going to end up like the others.
There was no time for him to sneak a quick peak inside the larger container or even take a little nibble of one of the cupcakes. The basket was on the ground and some much-deserved hugging was happening. When she whispered in his ear, he let out a quiet "Thank you."
And then Hady kissed his cheek. For a few seconds he was taken aback by the warm feeling that was very briefly on his skin. He had almost forgotten what it felt like, after all the months that had gone by. His face turned a bright shade of red, but he wasn't going to let her see that.
So he kissed her back. On the lips. If anyone had a problem with that, he was going to pull the 'it's my birthday' card and then hex them.
