Janelle's hopes were fading fast and the long pause before the professor spoke again did not help. Crickets. Crickets were chirping and Janelle was almost afraid to breathe. This was it. He was going to tell her that she couldn't adopt Mikey. She knew it.

And then.............An impossibility no? No? She still had a chance. Janelle's head snapped up. "You mean........I still have a chance to adopt Mikey?" Janelle stopped talking and listened. Fill out paperwork. Ok. Take the exam. No problem. Obtain the proper license. This all sounded do-able.

When Professor Draper said she would have to train with him for the rest of the term, Janelle broke into a smile. "Of course I will train with you. I told you I'd do whatever it takes to get Mikey, and I meant it. You just tell me where and when and I'm there." Janelle was all in. She would work as hard as possible and she was ready. Could they start now?

There were more details. Mikey had to live in the barn during the school year? Not a problem. "I understand professor. That works for me and I'm sure that it will be fine with Mikey." Janelle was really excited now. "What do I need to do first." She was ready to get her game plan together, so for now, she just had to be patient and listen.
