And there was the real kicker; this was detention, he lost the option of using his quill. Had that thought occurred to him the night before, he MIGHT have been more inclined to pretend he was practising in the Professor's office.
Much too late for that now. Apparently the dungeons meant no quills for whatever reason and he would somehow learn a greater lesson if it stayed out here.
His most sullen look appeared on his face as he ordered the quill to stop writing. There was no sense catching the rats and spiders. For all the embellishing, they wouldn't make for a great story.
His hands balled into tight fists that he stuck in his pockets but he didn't say another word, simply walked by the man to enter the room. Don't ask him how removing his quill would make him more compliant. All he knew was that he now needed to avoid the man with every fiber of his being to prevent a repeat of such an incident.
