He didn't... actually know anything about curse breaking in general. So when it came to Hirsch asking how to break the curse on the box, Jaemin was at a complete loss. It was an area where his knowledge was essentially zero, and that bothered him immensely. Why in all the stuff that he read was there not anything about how to end a curse before it got you?
"Can you Finite Incantatum it?" he mumbled absently, squinting at the box. "...can you cast a spell on a spell?"
Did magic work like that? Or did they have other ways to make the curse go away? How was he already 13 and he didn't know anything about this yet?

"If it's just human touch and human magic that makes it go off, then that means you can just get something not human to open the box. Right?" There were lots of creatures that could help them out with stuff like that. "Like a house elf or something. And once it's open, then the curse doesn't have a reason to be there anymore."
Because once the box was opened, the whole point of the curse was defeated. Right? Maybe? |
