The holiday break was over.
The slowdown that had proceeded it was now to be followed by the return of business as usual. At least roughly. New and old and returning employees would be coming in and Simon had joined their ranks early in the day to make sure things were situated the way he liked. Now was the time to check into the department to make sure he wasn't missing a staff meeting or something.
Having headed up from the security office and floo, the security man mad his way into the office shared by his division, the aurors and MLES. It was still pretty quiet, but Simon noticed the familiar form of Emily looking over things. The department head was certainly one of those he expected to be around early even when it wasn't the first day back.
"Good morning..." he greeted as he approached her as he moved further into the office.
