Didn't they know that five o'clock was dinner time? Or at least so close to it that it was not the proper time for a lesson? Olly had eaten a snack before he came and he hoped it would tide him over until the end of the lesson when he could go eat some real food. Oh yeah, and it was cold. Waiting for the lesson to start had not been fun. But now that it was starting he was looking forward to making a fire. He started to reach for his wand before he remembered that this was a muggle studies lesson so he would not be using magic. They would have to start a fire the muggle way. It seemed difficult, but at least he was familiar with the concept and how to light a match. Some purebloods might have a little bit of trouble with that.

Olly went over to the pile of wood and grabbed a few to bring back to his spot. He arranged them carefully, imitating how the professor had done it. Then he took the match box from her. That was the part he knew how to do. He struck the match against the rough side...except nothing happened. Not the first time at least. When he tried again it lit on fire as intended. So he laid it against the wood, hoping it would be as easy as the professor had made it look. The match just burned itself out. A small piece of the larger wood caught fire, but it quickly went out. Olly frowned and tried again. He lit another match and dropped it against the wood. The second time went a lot better and the tops of two of the wood pieces started on fire. It slowly started spreading all over, and soon it would give him adequate warmth.
