There was a sparkle of the fighter in her eye for just a second, then like before, it was gone. This was not how she saw her birthday going. She wanted to argue, but what was the point? Even though Professor Ichihara hadn't said those things last year, and had merely told the girl they would "see," it wasn't worth arguing. She'd only lose that fight anyway. But the Professors insistence was doing very little to convince her.

Hadley opened her mouth for a long time as if she was trying to find the right words while she stared at the wall. "You're right that I don't respect Drapes. Respect is something to be earned. And it is something that should be showed in a real and genuine way. Not through some choreographed, fake, song and dance number. It's not real. It's just going through empty motions because you're told to. None of that is real. Draper does that song and dance to everyone, but you're a fool if you think that's him actually showing you respect or actually respecting you. He respects no one but himself. And I'm sorry, I can no more be your monkey putting on a fake smile and act as I can actually respect that man." She let her voice drop off, as if recollecting her thoughts, but after a few minutes she gave up.

Hadley narrowed her eyes and furrowed her brow in confusion at the question of distrust. She barely understood what the Professor was talking about let alone knew how to answer. And Ichihara had a file on her? A big file. Was this something the woman did for everyone? Or was she a special case? Finally, Hadley just sighed and gave the woman a shrug. "I don't," she offered. It was just that from Hadley's point of view, Professor Ichihara had lied. Or at the very least, wasn't keeping to her promise.

"Uh..." What would she like? "I'd like for people to stop expecting me to be someone I'm not. Or worse, trying to make me into someone I'm not." The expression on Hadley's face clearly showed she put Nana into at least one of those categories. After a minute she said, "You know I'm never gonna be person you expect me to be, right? I'm never gonna fit that little checklist of maturity of yours. And there are more than one type of maturity anyway, and...Just water, will be fine." The girl looked more exhausted than anything.
