What was it with parents and not listening to their kids? Sure, kids spewed out some weird nonsense from time to time and constantly insisted that they were right but this wasn't in that category at all. This was different and called for an unnecessarily complicated situation.

The man opened his mouth to ask why his mum won't let him quit the club but it turned out that the boy had read his mind beforehand. This was interesting, to say the least. A young, magical boy who wasn't enthused about magic in the first place. Someone who was amongst people who were all dying to use the most complicated spells and flourish their wands about just because they can.

And then you have Blaise Bellaire.

Hm.

Hirsch let out a small sigh and then frowned in thought. "To be honest, I don't understand why she doesn't just let you quit if you obviously don't like it. It's your choice, at the end of the day, not an obligation." Parents. Really. "But your suggestion.... hm. What would she say if I wrote to her advising her that you're not doing well in the club and it's better if you quit? If everything you said came from me instead?"

The Professor meant well. He could tell because the man was saying all the things people say when they mean well but don't really have a full understanding of the situation. In his position, Blaise supposed he too would have come to this oh so obvious conclusion. If only it were so obvious and so clear cut. If only.

"To be honest Professor, she'd consider you incompetent." And a perfectly serious but honest and innocent expression as the boy explained. "See...you might not know this because I attend your lessons but I've got a habit of...um...not showing up to some lessons and walking right out of others. Mum's not all too impressed by this or by the Professors who keep letting me." Though the boy had no qualms about this himself. Charms and Transfiguration were simply not for him and he'd come to accept this long ago. As it would seem, so had his Professors.

"If you wrote suggesting I quit, she'd probably write back asking that you not get in the way of my learning if you don't plan to be a part of it--wants to transfer me to Durmstrang, y'know, thinks it might do me some good." But it really probably wouldn't if you asked him. Magic was magic no matter where you went.

Besides..."She'd also know immediately that I put you up to it and I'd get a howler for it and maybe even worse and it's not worth it when this can all be fixed with a little white lie." The young boy leaned forward in his seat, meeting the man's gaze dead on. "Name your price. I'll get it done, whatever it is."
