 Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE!
Isabella was super confused. They were going to learn a gravity spell? Or or was it an anti-gravity spell? She thought maybe an anti-gravity spell, since it made Professor Flamsteed's apple go up without coming back down. She picked up her wand. Derivo Gravitatem. She could do that. Say it three times with circles around the apple. Then she was supposed to toss her apple. After a few other students tried it first and she was it didn't work, she sighed. She wasn't going to get to eat this apple.
Furrowing her brow with concentration, Isabella picked up the apple in her free hand and held it flatly in her palm. "Der-iv-O GravitAtem," she said once, circling her wand clockwise over the apple, having not be able to tell that Flamsteed had gone counterclockwise. "Derivo Gravitatem," she said again, with another clockwise circle. "Derivo graviAtem!!" After she said it the third time and finished the clockwise circle over the apple, Isabella tossed it gently into the air with a hopeful look on her face.
When the apple landed with a thud back on her desk, her face fell. It hadn't worked. What had she done wrong? |
