Daxton had always had mixed feelings about the book labyrinth. He had wanted to avoid it, purely because it seemed far more chaotic than the rest of the library, and there were plenty of opportunities for people and things to hide around dark corners and jump out and attack him if they knew he was here. But Daxton had made it a goal of his to attempt to read as many books in the library as possible before he either graduated, left, or was unceremoniously kicked out (an eventuality that was seeming more and more likely these days). His ideal, potentially unrealistic goal was to try read every single book available.
So he had not avoided the labyrinth for long, deciding instead to always come here to look for books at a completely random time. That way, nobody could anticipate his comings and goings, and for once, the lack of structure felt safer.
Tiptoeing barefoot through the labyrinth - his preferred method of walking - Daxton managed to keep his footsteps light, and nearly as silent as he himself was. The lack of school robes helped; none of that awful swishing or rustling to announce his presence. He moved further and further into the labyrinth of books, memorising the path he had taken as he went, and looking out for any books on magical theory. Magical theory and science, to be precise, though he always liked to keep an eye out for more Defence books, and of course, his ongoing pursuit of knowledge about the many subjects that had captured his interest.
