Maybe he hadn't thought this through.. Because he WANTED to brag about Miss Charlotte being his girlfriend (one day) but he didn't want it to get back to her that he was saying things without her approval. Because she was STILL looking for that rebound and it was a bit rubbish for him and his feelings. "It begins with a letter, yes." What? It did!

And he couldn't say things, because she had a brother in the school AND she had told her Dad about kissing Roo and that was all very strange to the Ravenclaw. Murderous levels of strange.
