"Oh.. yeah, I suppose we could." Ethan had sort of forgotten that Oakey did that sort of thing, but in all honesty, he'd rather keep this to the Ministry rather than pull their friends into it too. He was sure someone at work could handle this just fine. "Well, let's try it this way first, then if it doesn't turn out we can ask him. I think it would be easier, don't you?" It would already be near home anyway, might as well use the local resources they had. "Oh, well, I can go get them if you want. I'm sure she doesn't mind having them there, she might just not know what happened if she was expecting you." Of course, she hadn't mirrored or owled yet either, so she might not have been too concerned just yet.
"No, I know, that's not what I meant," he said with a slight shake of his head. "I think a relationship or any contact with that family is a bad idea. I just found it odd for you to say someone who is a part of it to be sweet and good. But you would know her better than I would." It was hard for him to truly believe that but he hadn't met her either. He took her hand and squeezed it in a show of support. Ethan knew the battles that Minerva had fought and she really had come a long way. He didn't want her to regress just because someone else decided they needed to be a part of her life.
"I guess that's something else we need to discuss," Ethan said with a chuckle as she mentioned her own uncertainty over Gunnar going to Hogwarts. Maybe a topic for another day though and certainly nothing that needed to be decided very soon. They still had several years.
"You really can't play the 'what if' game, Min," he said, giving her a side hug with the arm around her shoulders. "That will drive you crazy and it's already enough to have grief over his death. You can't blame yourself for other people's choices." He could understand how it was easy to do though. "Maybe you should reach out to her. It might make you both feel better." No, he didn't want to reopen old wounds or anything like that, but surely this woman was not associated with that family and it might help with both of their grief.
