He ALSO knew the importance of a good brush - mainly because he'd heard some of the girls at camp talking about how there wasn't great brush cleaning facilities there. Muggles. They sure did give him something to chuckle about when he had little to do. "I think it's art." He also didn't care if Miss Chloe didn't think that, but he was set in his thought of the craft.
