Clearly with that look on her face, he was surprised she hadn't exploded into millions of little pieces by now. This was rather impressive. Wonder how long she could keep it up for. Only time would tell, truly.
Not that he was really phased by it. Just made him all the more smug, she was right.
He stood watching her curiously. She was all too predictable, yet there was a quality about her that also prevented from being 100% predictable all of the time. She was clever and he was aware of that much, yet she didn't seem to like the rules set down in front of her. Preteenage rebellion. He knew all too well what that was like, and in many ways the girl reminded him of a younger version of himself. Only he was much better looking, if he had anything to say on the matter.
Now the real test here would be to see whether she was willing to put her anger aside to accomplish the task at hand. He waited as she turned to respond to his question, watching as she loosened up every-so-slightly. "Excellent, why don't you give it a try," of course she chose to play, a Ravenclaw could never turn down a riddle. It was maybe the one time she'd done the smart thing, instead of the stupid thing.
She regretted it instantly.
Ohhohoho, he was getting on her every nerve and Hadley decided then and there, he might have won this battle, be he WAS not going to win the war. The war wasn't over, not by a long shot. But she'd let him think it was. She'd let him think he was victorious; play the role of the beaten, buy her time. She'd wait until his guard was down completely. Until he felt safe and secure and then she'd strike. Hard.
James Draper was finished. He just didn't know it yet.
But she did. She was sure of it. Ironically, had he not been so smug and gloaty about it, this might have been the end. Nope. For now, though, she had a part to play. Sullenly, Hadley sighed and stood up. It was even agonizing to play the part, but she'd keep going. For the plan and mission. "Yes, Professor."
Hadley held up her wand and aimed at the door. "Carpe Retractum!" She felt the spell work, saw the gold rope reach out and grab hold of the door and yank hard. The door moved an inch or less. Maybe that was enough to pry it open? Hadley made her way to the door and tried to use the new leverage to get it open, but it refused to budge. She could do the seize and pull charm again and again, inching the door open, or... "Shrinking charm?"
