Right. First step was cleaning. He remembered that having clean equipment was a very important part of potions. He had his wand out and pointed it at his cauldron first. "Scourgify." That was easy enough and he'd practiced it plenty of times before in previous potions classes. He went ahead and made sure the rest of his tools were clean as well. And he was ready to get started.

Preparing the ingredients first. Good. He first went up and gathered the ingredients he needed, measuring them carefully. He started with the hairy fungus as the professor suggested. It wasn't too hard to crush. A bit required some harder work, but overall it went pretty smoothly. He was ready for the next ingredient. He sliced the caterpillar and diced the bat tongue. There, that was everything. He was ready to begin brewing.

He added the measured prune juice and red wine to the cauldron. Haha prune juice. Because it was an aging potion and old people drank prune juice. He lit the flame to medium, not too much and not too little. He tried listening closely to the professor's instructions at this part because it wasn't written on the board. But Olly was not the best at listening. He was trying though. Maybe it would have been a good idea to pair up with an older student. Oh well, too late now.

Stirring. That was easy. He used his stirrer to keep stirring clockwise over and over and over again. It was strange that there wasn't a set number of stirs like in most potions. In this one they just had to keep going? Until it boiled at least. Olly watched his potion carefully.

Slowly heat the red wine and prune juice and begin stirring clockwise until you can just see bubbles starting to form. (The mixture will be dark purple/brown)

Immediately add the Hairy Fungus and continue to stir clockwise for ten minutes. (The mixture will slowly fade to a lighter purple/brown)
Continuing to stir clockwise, add the tortoise shell. (The mixture will be a creamy color)
After eight minutes, remove the cauldron from the heat and add the caterpillar and bat tongue, making sure to continue to stir the solution in a clockwise motion for five minutes, until it changes to a creamy green colour.
As the potion cools, it will turn emerald green. Once it is completely cooled (about fifteen to twenty minutes), you may cease dispense the potion into appropriate vials for storage.
