They were taking care of roses, but for some reason everyone had to do it as tiny people. Why did Professor Myers shrink them all? Couldn't they have just watered roses without the shrinking? Why wasn't there any sort of option to opt out of being shrunk? Spiked drinks. Really, there should have been a warning with that. Even though Penelope had not had any of the spiked drinks, she still ended up tiny because Professor Myers had shrunk her. She still wasn't very happy about being made into a tiny person without any sort of warning in advance.
Riddle time! Obviously the first one was water. "Water is the most essential nutrient to life." Nothing could live without water. It was important for all plants and animals to get the amount of water that they needed every day. "Aguamenti!" Here they were, watering roses as an army of tiny people. Why were they doing this? It would be easier to water roses if the students were normal sized.
