Hogwarts RPG Name:
Louise Fellen
Third Year
Default Catch up + First Riddle (at the bottom)
Jupiter's Satellite

Louise crept from under the table, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible as she did so. It was bad enough that she had actually believed that some kid movie was real, but to do so in front of what was practically the whole school? Louise was mortified. She hid her face in her tea mug and remained quiet like that while the class moved on around her.

SPOILER!!: asking parts of a flower

Paul waved his wand again to get rid of it. “They are VERY sensitive to temperature change, actually, and they turn WHITE to actually show they are too warm. It’s mostly helpful if they’ve been kept in the sun too long and need some shade for a few hours or day or so.”

WASN’T THAT COOL?

“Now, mundane roses do turn whiter in color in the summer. So, some of you suggesting this is a magical hybrid are correct--they ARE a hybrid, created by Herbologist Theodore Wimbleton in 2065. So they’re relatively NEW to the field, as you can see. BUT with care...and love...they’re pretty similar to regular roses, as you all..will see.Oh he smirked a bit evilly there.

“First lesson of the year! So...we’re doing some easier things today, kids! Tell me the parts of the rose plant--which did you all know was a SHRUB, actually?” How funny. He slipped off the table and grabbed a piece of chalk, for once using his hand and not his wand to draw on the board. He drew a pretty simple flower. “Don’t worry about writing this stuff down. Just..let’s go over it before we get into our activity. BUT--what ARE the parts of the rose and what is their function? Tell me everything you know!”

Louise, to be honest, didn't know much about flowers, but SHE HAD DONE THIS BEFORE. This was something that her (non-magical) elementary school had taught her! They had done an entire unit on plants and the parts of a flower and everything last year. Louise nearly jumped out of her chair with her hand up, completely forgetting that in order to answer the Professor, she would need to speak in front of the whole class.

"There're petals, which attract pollinators with colors, and the smell does that too, but the leaves catch the light with... photo-something I think it was photosynthesis?" Louise paused for a breath, she was very excited to share her knowledge... but it was in this pause that she realized the attention she was bringing to herself. "Um, well, I mean.... that's it." She was done talking now. The rest of the class Louise was to be invisible, unnoticed, and everyone would forget her.

SPOILER!!: Shrinking!

And all the parts serve VERY specific functions--functions outlined in your textbook that I will probably not quiz you on EVER because I care more that you know how to care for these plants.”

He cleared his throat, and smirked…”Now...time for the EXCITEMENT...” he chuckled evilly to himself. “I would like you ALL to gather in a circle here, in the front of the room, around this--” he gestured to the potted rosebush in the front of the room--”Rosebush!” Because surprise surprise….

“Now…” he had a hold of his wand. “I spiked your tea and water with a shrinking solution--” he said casually, “So ANY minute now, we’re going to SHRINK--and don’t worry, we’ll land right in the middle of that plant--” he had planned this out carefully. Magic was a thing. “OH and those of you who did NOT drink the tea--” Paul had taken note. He whipped his wand about and non-verbally shrunk them down to size and caaaaarefully made sure they were safely delivered onto the soil of the plant. It was time to HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS all up here--

“Any second now the rest of us should all shrink and join the others--”

And before he knew it, he was shrinking--he could see, collectively, his students all shrinking--keeping his wand poised, he made sure they all landed SAFELY without snaggling against any of those thorns...onto the soil.

The roses...towered above them.

“As you all can SEE...those roses are quite a different story from down here! And exquisite and BEAUTIFUL!” it was like being in a very tall forest where the tops of the trees were flowers instead of...leaves and stuff. COOL, you see? DID THEY UNDERSTAND?

“So, for today’s activity...I will be giving you all RIDDLES that have to do with...taking care of the rosebush...and you all will solving the riddles AND in turn...doing the actions! I’ll let you all gain your footing before we begin…” Ahem. There were tiny buckets...scattered around the soil, hidden behind some smaller stems and whatnot. Paul had set out a chair for himself, and was sipping his tea quite calmly in his dress as he looked around. “Is everyone...ready?”

HOLY STONES. AND THEY WERE TRYING TO TELL HER THAT THIS WAS ALL FAKE. Louise was Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Literally there was a giant flower and she was tiny. She wanted to shout 'No, I'm not ready Professor!', but she reminded herself that she was going to be quiet and invisible for the rest of class. It was hard to do when she was suddenly shrunk to the size of a seed. If her robes had been big on her before, well, now that she had shrunk she felt like she was swimming in fabric. The other students seemed to be just fine and dandy but someway somehow Louise's robes didn't shrink right with the rest of her.

Lovely.

Louise ducked behind a stem bigger around than she could reach her arms and hid there. She could still hear Professor Myers as he said his riddle, but she was, thankfully, hidden from everyone (she thought).

SPOILER!!: Prof's Riddle

He didn’t mind it, heh. Made things a little bit more interesting at least.

“The first riddle is as follows:

This first clue is easy. I promise you this.
Don’t think too hard, or this clue you will miss.

It comes from the ground and sky,
so don’t dig too deep or fly too high.
My roses need this to survive!

He chuckled. HAVE FUN KIDS!

Ravenclaw coming right up! Louise knew the answer to this, it was easy! Water. It was the obvious answer. What was even better was that the professor said that they should just start going about caring for the roses, which meant that Louise didn't need to talk.

Wasn't there a spell for water? Though she was still only a first year, and a fledgeling one at that, so she didn't know many spells, Louise did know one for water.

"Aguamenti," she said softly, pointing at the base of the stem she had been hiding behind. A trickle of water barely splattered across the soil. Fine. She would be a little louder.

"AGUAMENTI." she said, rather loudly, too loud for her plan, louder than she expected. She winced, but at least the rose was getting watered now.
