Or she was grasping at straws. You decide.
The "come in" caught her off guard though. Usually the professors open the door and let you in. Hadley shrugged and decided to have a bit of fun with it. She threw open the door dramatically, and marched in the office as if she was the DADA Professor's boss. Hands firmly placed on his desk, she leaned forward, eyes narrowing to show she meant business. "Listen, Hirsch!" she accused. "You promised us on Jaemin's birthday to teach us the Patronus Charm. And today is my birthday, so you have to teach us!" Her eyes narrowed just a bit more to drive the point home. Then the now teenage Hadley relaxed, and flashed Hirsch the same innocent, pearly whites and dimples not really smile she gave Jaemin outside. "Please?"
Yes, she was in a good mood today. Why wouldn't she be? It was her birthday. She was 13. She was back at Hogwarts. And not at home with her Dad. Today was a great day.
She clasped her hands together in mock pleading to Hirsch, smile never fading. Normally Jaemin wouldn't even think of shouting when standing in such close proximity to a professor or their office. But the name Haddie called him immediately made him frown, and he made a face at her. "I am not short!" he said loudly as he followed her through the door, frustration seeping into his voice. Just because she insisted on being stupidly tall didn't mean he had to be. The small Slytherin looked at her rather petulantly before turning his attention to Hirsch, and standing back as she went into her... theatrics.
It was clear she was playing though, especially with the expression she went right back into afterward, and Jaemin moved to stand next to her at the desk. He too gave Hirsch his most pleading look, with a bright smile before he leaned in toward Haddie and whispered to her. "Happy birthday, by the way. Dunno that I said it before." |
