But the gist of what the AI was for was simply to try writing an AI.
As for whether or not I "hacked" Pottermore, I certainly didn't. In order to use their website properly, I have to download their JS file. They willingly handed me the information. As for the AI, again - I'm not breaking into their servers to steal code. I am, effectively, making a robot to take their quiz. I'm not worried about legal repercussions. However, they would be within their rights to ban my Pottermore account (I think it would be petty of them, but
c'est la vie).

You're right, it could be mascots. It could also be wand cores. Or, it could be filler text from a programmer that's waiting for the real text. The wording "belong" seems to suggest it's a house.
