Ariadne still felt sort of strange sitting at a completely different house table. She felt out of place and kind of like everybody was here looking for Hufflepuffs, and here she was...a Slytherin. Just then, she heard someone calling out her name, and oddly enough, it wasn't even a Hufflepuff. It was a Gryffindor! "Hey, Mel!" she said, smiling at the Gryffindor girl. Okay, so now she didn't feel so out of place. There were Gryffindors here, too! "How was your summer?"

Then there was Carl, the one Ariadne had come for in the first place. "Thanks," she said, responding to his welcome. She turned to the others, Brady, Katerina, and Esme. She knew two of them from classes, but Brady was one she hadn't been introduced to yet. "I know Katerina. We dueled last school year. I know Esme from classes, but Brady's a new one for me. Nice to meet you, Brady." As for Katerina and Esme... "I've been alright. I had an amazing summer. We didn't really go anywhere, but I was so happy to see my mom and dad again. How was your holiday?" She nodded toward Carl. "You know Vivian Kye? They're awesome," she said. She was SUPER happy to have them in Slytherin with her, too. The common room had been getting kind of dull with just Mason being around her age. Mason was fun to be around, but she was ready for he group to grow.

Looking up, she saw Azura waving and smiled and waved along. "Hey, Azura! It was awesome. I didn't want it to end," she answered. "Did you have a good one?" She just bet her fellow second year DID. Azura seemed to have lots of friends, so Ariadne figured that had kept her busy.

Ariadne felt all odd again when the house ghost AND the Head of House arrived. "Maybe I should go back to my own house table," she said to her Hufflepuff friends.
