The girl's groan pretty much said it all, but alas, it wouldn't be too long now. What surprised him, and delighted him, was the mention of jelly slugs. SHE'D HAVE SHARED THEM WITH HIM? Would it be inappropriate to profess his love for a first year? Yeaaahhhh... and in more ways than one. Good thing he was smarter than that. "If I had my Bertie Botts or chocolate frogs I'd share those with you too..." just so she knew, she was a person he could find himself sharing things with.
But WHO was the Headmistress?
"Uhhhhh...." he didn't know. Turning to scan the staff table his eyes eventually noticed the cat.. man... man.. "Headmaster, it seems," he informed as he turned back to the first year. "He's new." As such, he really didn't know much about the man.
But right on cue, it was time for the speech.
"I don't like Bertie Botts..." Bec said truthfully as the older Gryffindor mentioned he would have shared it.
"I had a spinach flavour ones and it was disgusting!" she didn't like spinach, could he tell? Her parents had told her she would grow fond of it later in life but she highly doubted that. However, she wouldn't refuse the chocolate frogs.
"Do you collect the cards as well? i have a big collection already" half her drawer was full at home.
"Are their trading clubs at Hogwarts?" she asked before turning to look at the staff table.
The cat she had seen earlier suddenly transformed in to a man and Bec's mouth fell open in awe. How had he done that? Could she do that to? In the back of her mind, the first year remembered something her mother had told her about the classes she had to take and while she was still looking at the cat!headmaster, she spoke to the kind older Gryffindor.
"Is that Transfiguration?" she asked.
"Do we learn that in our first year....wait, what's your name even?" she frowned slightly as she looked at him.
"I'm Rebecca, but you can call me Bec because that is way cooler don't you think?" except the fact that Bec literally means 'Little one' but she did not know that ...yet...

Zarina hugged him, and Killian gave him a congratulatory thump on the back, causing him to bump into the table. He was glad there wasn't a full plate of food in front of him... he didn't feel like wearing his dinner this evening!
Only moments after he sat down, the new headmaster started speaking, He tried to listen politely, but he had a bit of trouble understanding the unfamiliar accent Where was this guy from, anyway? To Fiyero's relief, the headmaster's speech didn't last long. Despite filling up on candy during the train ride, he was starving!
He didn't see anyone nearby who looked close to his age as he helped himself to the vairous dishes laid out. He tried to peer over Killian's head (not an easy task, as his cousin was several inches taller than him) to see farther down the table, but all he managed to do was nearly fall off the bench. He turned his attention back to the plate in front of him, his heart sinking slightly. He hoped someone would strike up a conversation soon... the meal was going to be dead boring otherwise!
After the Headmaster had made his speech. And being slightly dissapointed that one of the Professors had broken up the fight between those two boys at the other end of the table, Bec had gotten up from wherever she had been seated and walked over to another first year she had seen getting sorted earlier. She had seen this kid's sorting when she had been waiting for her own but she had already forgotten in which House he had been sorted the moment the boy had. But, seeing his face at the table, she recalled it again and stopped walking when she was near him. Without asking, she sat next to him on the bench with a grin on her face.
"Hi, I'm Bec"
