Hogwarts RPG Name: Elsa Pinkerton-Oliveira Third Year | Snuffles Sweetness | Sirius is my veil dancer Quote:

No wonder we feel at home almost instantly.” It was just like the good old times, wasn’t it? The darkness of the place made Mordred’s mind more alert than when he’s at Level 4.
A slight smirk graced his young face however, when Thomas let out a snort. Even if his chair is enchanted, or powered by black magic, he was sure his protective rune stones inside his trousers’ pocket were doing its counter charm. Mordred is never the flashy type of pureblood wizard. He’s usually the reserved, and quiet one, albeit the most observant. He is the type to make sure that he isn’t in trouble without waving his wand around for everyone to see. Always vigilant and ready to strike like a Snake, without the pomp and circumstance.
The news about his research reaching parts of the ministry made him perk up slightly in his seat. Oh? Has it really reached some sort of interest among his colleagues? Good. They can all be taste testers once the invention is ready. And of course, he had been expecting that question. “I cannot force such innovation to everyone, so yes, there will be some who will hold reservations.” And honestly, they are the boring ones. “Not everyone is highly educated in the science of Dragonology and Magizoology in general. Secondly, not everyone has an exquisite tongue to taste such powerful tonic infused drink.” Was Thomas one of the...mediocre wizards out there? Hopefully, Mordred is wrong with his assumption.
Never in his life did he imagine that he is actually capable of sharing his knowledge of Dragons to the younger generation. As an only child, and with an aristocratic upbringing, Mordred is used to being stingy with his things...and acquired knowledge. He’d always thought that the others are never worthy of what he knew. That gradually changed when he met his fellow Slytherins, and other students his age when he was in Hogwarts. Sharing the knowledge only made him thirstier for more. He was always in constant pursuit of information, getting the feeling that he was steadily, and slowly becoming a Ravenclaw. The only driving force that ties his feet to his Slytherin roots is his ambition to master all dragons. “Interesting. Most of the Gryffindors I knew tipped their energies toward duelling, and chased the dream of becoming an Auror.” Mordred got his almost empty coffee cup, and downed the remaining contents. “I can give you a tentative schedule soon. I will have to check with Harmony first if I can bring the two of you inside the laboratory. If not,” he shrugged continuing, “you can stay by the work cubicles and you can view it from there.” Mordred isn’t promising anything, but with Harmony’s positive attitude, he was sure the plan is a go. Thomas’ clear eyes twinkled with satisfaction. It was a pleasure to meet another Slytherin. The MoM seemed to be filled with Gryffindors and Ravenclaws these days. “Yes, even though I have to admit, I’d rather have the Slytherin’s leather sofas than these mismatched chairs…” but the silence and peace were priceless. “and I do miss the mermaids, always enjoyed watching them swim - in the rare occasions they graced us with their pretense that is” he chuckled.
The fact that Mordred turned out to be a fellow Slytherin made Thomas’ mind relax a little. Maybe he’s all right. Thomas wanted to believe Andi’s words that people weren’t all bad, but he wouldn’t help being suspicious and cautious of strangers since after all these years in the Department of Mysteries the most valuable lesson he learnt had been: better safe than sorry. Thomas grinned as the Dragon subject seemed to please the young man and he dove into conversation. “I won’t lie to you and say that the notion of how this drink is infused isn’t quite…strange” he picked his words carefully, he did not want to be misinterpreted “but I’m also aware that this, as any scientific experience, is a strictly regulated and controlled experience, right? I see no reason not to try it. Plus the after effects really intrigue me. I mean we all know about the properties of Dragon’s blood, but what do you think will be the effects of this infusion?”. Yes he wouldn’t mind trying the drink, he enjoyed coffee and even though Dragonology and Magizoology were fields he had little knowledge about, he was intrigued by the effects this powerful tonic infused drink might have. And in addition to that he was reasonably sure that there were more efficient and…clean ways of killing someone inside the MoM than with a dung infused drink. “I’d say Wes is a bit atypical since he was brought up by a Ravenclaw and a Slytherin.” he chuckled “Guess we rubbed off on him some other traits”. Yes, he knew all about the stereotypes that revolved around each house. Luckily for him Wes didn’t fit in any. He had his own mind and ideas about what he wanted to do with life. But he was dead loyal to those he loved, Thomas guessed that was the Gryffindor vein in his son. “Whatever you can arrange I’ll be in your debt Mordred, you have my word” and having a debt to collect from an Unspeakable often proved to be useful.
