Smugness and satisfaction were concepts that were perhaps far too positive for Daxton to be able to feel in his current stage of life, but he very much recognised the feeling of right, and he focused on that as Airey Flamsteed was preceded into the room by the sound of infernal clunking and crunching of that stupid rock. It was a horrible, grating sound, one that seemed to scream directly at Daxton's ear drums, making him shudder ever so slightly. When the man himself came into view, Daxton merely afforded him a passing, impassive glance, before casting the 'pet' rock a lingering stare. Oh, how he wanted to throw the stupid thing into the lake, send it into the Forbidden Forest with a Hippogriff, or simply just smash it with a hammer. He was so absorbed in his plans for rock-murder that he completely and utterly missed any disappointment or coolness radiating from either of his captors, though it would be fair to say that such vibes would invariably be wasted on him, no matter the circumstance.

Looking back up from the rock, Daxton turned to look at where both professors had gestured for him to go; one of those doors. He hesitated. Closed doors provided something of an unpleasant challenge for him, though he could not explain why. Knocking on doors was worse, which was why he never did it, but simply opening a closed door could be managed from time to time.

Except that he had an audience now, and one which expected him to turn his back on them, too. It was that - not the detention, not the two-to-one ratio in favour of the authority figures, not the dungeons - that made Daxton nervous. In the end he walked to the door in a very specific way, each footstep calculated, in a manner than he never once turned his back or lost sight of the two professors, before heaving the door open and darting inside. Maybe it made him look stupid, but better to look stupid than to act stupid, and turn his back on anyone who could easily get the better of him.
