There were the footsteps Daxton had been anticipating, but he continued flipping back through the pages of the detention sign-up book, scanning through years of near illegible handwriting from the scores of students that had found themselves here. It was only when Ichihara spoke to announce her presence that he looked up, unwilling to have his attention focused on something other than the other occupant of the room.
Daxton had expected to be directed immediately to wherever the detention was to take place, or perhaps to receive some form of lecture even though this professor had made it quite clear that she was not one to waste time dithering about. But no... waiting on a colleague. Who?
The Headmistress? Possibly, but then 'colleague' implied someone who was moderately equal to Ichihara, and it seemed unlikely that the Headmistress would be referred to as such. If Moxley was to show up here, Daxton thought it more likely that Ichihara would have mentioned that; it seemed like the kind of thing a professor might do to try and scare or intimidate him. Perhaps Kitridge then? She had mentioned speaking to his Head of House, and it was fitting that the man in said role might want to speak to him. Or it could be Airey Flamsteed. Daxton did not know why he would be involved - logically, without knowing all the details, coming to that conclusion made no sense - but he thought that just maybe he would hear the Astronomer's footsteps next. He turned his unforgiving stare towards the door, daring to hope that Airey Flamsteed might appear, that he might get a chance to provoke a reaction out of him today.
