Whatever it was, the seventh year was NOT going to concede to the Professor's team this easily. Nor was she sure what any of this had to do with Arithmancy, unless maybe ... strategy? Loose connection, if that was it.

Shrugging, the head girl was on the move ... quietly, to another location. She glided along under many of the towers and platforms, avoiding areas where her peers were hiding because hiding where others were was a surefire way to get caught. She should just go for it... her plan for 'safety'. Stopping just before one of the mud pits, Tia sat down on the ledge, as if it was like a pool ledge and slid into the gooey mud, which was up to her shoulders. Perfect. Now just stay still for what couldn't be too much longer...

So there was a disturbance in the surface of the mud over there.. Tiara wasn't sure how that could be, though. She had explicitly stated no magic, so she would be able to see anyone get in. And yet... No matter. Keep moving. Only.. three minutes left, she thought after checking her watch.

Anyhow, she had left a surprise in the mud for anyone who tried to hide there. If someone had taken refuge in the dirty pit, their ankles were likely to be grabbed, bitten, or otherwise assaulted any second now...

It was like the Dueling Club meeting all over again when she was eliminated early.

She found herself moving slowly as the Impediment Jinx took over. When she was able to move normally, she said, ''I'm sorry, Haddie. It looks as though I'm out.'' The Eagle stepped out of the fog and moved towards Tanner. "You caught me, Professor.''

Aha, she knew someone was there! But given the fact that it was Rachel stepping towards her from the fog, and she had been talking to someone, a certain other Ravenclaw was likely nearby, yes?

"Apparently so. Now - surprise! - you are joining my turn. You know the Impediment Jinx, I presume?" she asked, lifting the same jinx from the eagle as she spoke softly. "So we will split up and try to get more people out that way. Have at it!"

She had been mostly staying silent behind one of the structures near the door, trying to get a feel for what was going on BEFORE running out and possibly exposing herself. But as her classmates started to move deeper and deeper into this pit...arena...thing, she knew she had to move to. Taking a deep breath and scouting out another obstacle to hide behind, she waited until it seemed safe and jumped out, darting towards the obstacle and hopefully making it there without being seen...

That WAS the point of all this, right??

Time was running out and Tiara knew there were still plenty of students lurking about. As she made her way towards another likely spot of the arena, she continued to send random Impediment Jinxes about. Sure she may get lucky and hit someone, but also it would confuse them as to her exact location. But really? She was just hoping to scare someone into moving.

Not a good combination if you were trying to hide from someone. Being covered in mud not only was uncomfortable but it didn't help when you were trying to run. It slowed you down a great deal.

Out of nowhere two jinxes came her way, one of them skimming a few inches above her head. The other hitting her squarely in the shoulder as she attempted to turn out of the way. The Impedimenta jinx slowed her down further until she stopped in her tracks in the darkness of the alley. "You got me Professor!" Hadleigh called out. She was caught fair and square and didn't mind it one bit.

Yes! Well.. she knew she wanted the students to win but.. You know, she was into this, too! "Finite," she said, walking up to the Slytherin. "Now for the twist, you will be joining my team!" She didn't bother asking if the fifth year knew the jinx: she did. "Now spread out quickly, there are only about 3 minutes left."

Esme almost jumped out of her skin as a wooden object zoomed past less than an inch from her face. Seemed that Professor Tanner wanted to raise the stakes a little.

Getting her bearings back, she began another mad dash towards safety. Unfortunately for her it was much more difficult to run to safety when there were objects whizzing past in just about any direction. "OOF!" she exclaimed as she was sent flying forward, almost landing in a mud pit. Fortunately only her palms fell in.

Gotcha now!

Tiara spun around on the spot. "Impedimenta," she spoke softly, sending a jinx towards the source of the noise, which appeared to be a mud pit. Sure enough, she saw someone kneeling down there. Now would it hit its mark after being so wildly shot?

The problem was, she had a habit of thinking upon things too long, and apparently the professor had caught on to this and had followed her into the alley. Ariadne basically didn't even stand a chance. She was trying to slip into the shadows, when the spell slammed into her back.

Ariadne tried to take off running, but it was of no use. Her attempt at speed paired with the effects of the spell basically caused her to fall in a heap on the floor. OH, DEAR MERLIN. Was that even the PROFESSOR?!

Yes, that was a direct hit by the sound of things. Hurrying over, Tiara saw a crumpled form on the ground and quickly lifted the jinx. After a quick glance, it was easy for her to see that Ariadne was not injured. "Well, you may be out, but you are not done yet. You are joining team Tanner now!" She smiled and offered a hand to the girl. "The incantation is Impedimenta, in case you don't know it." She checked her watch once more. "We only have a couple of minutes left, so head on out!"

Once there... the small boy froze, listening for footsteps; when he heard none, he squatted down, still on his feet but now much smaller and closer to the ground. In the darkness it should have been very difficult to see him, or so he hoped, and he presented much less of a target now.

Sometimes being very small was good. Hopefully it would keep him safe for a minute or two.

Sure enough, he had headed for the alley. She circled around towards the other end as stealthily as she could. Reaching the opening, she shot a nonverbal spell down the corridor, aiming a little lower than normal in case someone was crouching behind a barrier.
