Tell his wand who's the boss? At a time like this?? So she can contradict him for the heck of it??? No thanks. Blaise would cut his losses and do what he did best in these situations--he would throw himself onto the mat in an attempt to dodge his own spell being deflected back at him. Figures the time he actually casts a spell it comes right back to try biting him in the butt. It seemed like he'd have been better off not casting at all just to save himself the trouble. Only problem was that Char would never let him hear the end of it and she probably wouldn't back his story when summer came then his mum would never believe him.
The universe hated him. No question about it. That was why he was stuck in this situation right now with his overly enthused friend who was CLEARLY unable to sense his reluctance and non-existent zeal.
Sometimes that girl was just too happy for anyone's good.
He should get off the ground. He should take up a fighter's stance and show Charlotte that he wasn't ungrateful and DID appreciate that she'd been helping him so far....but his will was weak and the longer he lay there was the less he wanted to be present so he simply remained there on the floor, watching his bouncing friend.
If he aimed just right--and his wand cooperated--he might actually hit what he was aiming for, her ears to be precise. Just needed the right angle and....the right timing for him to cast an ears to kumquats jinx. What were the odds he could just...you know....crawl out of the arena from here? Surely if everyone was busy watching Char, no one would notice him leave.
