She thought she heard footsteps behind her and she started to crawl faster, but..

Ack!!

The spell hit her!! Ughhhhhhh

She was out!!

Hoorrayyyyyy!! Maybe she could go sit quietly now in safety,,

"Professor? You got me! Where are you?"

Still in fog here!

Direct hit! And lucky, too, with that fog. "Over here," Tiara called quietly. She lifted the spell with a simple Finite to allow the girl free motion once more. "Now for the surprise: you're on my team now. You know the incantation, Impedimenta?" She was only a first year, but it was a basic defensive spell. "Go out and cause some havoc! If you get someone, same deal, they join our team."

The small Slytherin let out a quiet yelp and immediately hit the ground. The spell cleared him, barely, before he shot back up to his feet and took off again, away from where the light had come from, this time heading for one of the pitch-black alleyway openings. He couldn't see the professor... but that didn't mean that she should be allowed to see him all that easily, either.

Oh, a near miss. She sent another one off in his direction, but she didn't really aim very carefully. It was more of her way of making him think she was after him. He was heading towards a dark alley and she would let him escape. This time...

She looked out throughout the arena, surveying her options and trying to decide where to go. She seemed to be in the right place, because she could see the spell being cast all around her. Someone even got hit. Ouch. That was early on.

...and then something darted toward her and crashed with the floor just two feet away from her. She jumped, realizing it was the spell. She'd nearly been HIT! Either the professor was a really bad aim, or she was just trying to scare Ariadne. She'd bet it was the second one...and if it was, the plan had worked.

So she had to get out of her hiding place.

Also, what did this have to do with Arithmancy? There had to be something Ariadne hadn't thought of yet. What was it, though? She dashed out of the shadows and into an alley. MERLIN. Who knew WHAT was waiting here. She had no idea where this was going and could only assume more clues were coming, so she moved further down the alley, disappeared into more shadows, and waited.

Unfortunately for Ariadne Greingoth, Tiara had created this arena and knew the map like she knew the Chaldean Number System. Taking a shortcut, she dashed around to where the end of the alley came out and entered, hearing the girl's footfalls coming towards her. Hiding behind a barrier, she waited until just the right time and burst out behind the girl as she ran past. The jet of light shot towards her exposed back just as she stopped to hide.

She quickly nodded and whispered, "Let's go. I think the fog is a good idea.''

The Eagle carefully tottered off towards the fog and not a moment too soon. She had seen the Patronus, bright and silvery, zoom towards the tower she and Haddie had been going towards. "That was close!'' she whispered as she watched from among the fog. "You don't think the fog will eventually vanish, do you, Haddie?''

She had flushed them out, all right. Now she wasn't going easy on them. They had headed directly for the fog and she went to outflank them, having the superior knowledge of the arena's layout to her advantage. She could hear them whispering nearby and knew she had them. Her wand aiming right down the middle of the alley, she shot of jet of light. Would she get one, both, or neither of them?

She heard some students had been caught... Oh no. Maybe she should move? No, she shouldn't do that. It would just making her getting caught easier. Maybe she should.... walk further across this dark alley. Ava kept looking back while she walked further... Yep, constant vigilance. It seemed like she was successfully avoid the Professor....

Or maybe not.

Goodness, the impediment jinx had caught her. Okay, she lost.

Score! "Nice try, Miss Burton. Finite," she said quietly, lifting the spell. "Now the fun part: you're joining Team Tanner." That made three for them now! "The incantation is Impedimenta. If you hit someone, they join our team. Now go get 'em!"

The Hufflepuff grinned and ran over to a good spot behind a metal platform. He remembered to jump over a mud pit on his way, but tripped over the next one he came across. His progress slower than before, he reached his destination and squatted down. Hopefully the Professor could not see him here.

She had been making her way to another portion of the arena, but... then she spotted a suspicious trail of mud. It would lead her right to someone. Tiara followed it a ways, then saw where it ended several yards away. Knowing her quarry was hiding there, she sent a spell towards the spot. She wasn't necessarily trying to get them right away, but if it happened to get them first try, so much the better.

She didn't miss the running sounds of footsteps coming her way and the sound of missed spells hitting the tower beside and above her. Hady silently crept backwards further around the side of the tower and more into the darkness. It would keep her hidden yet at the same time make it unable to see where she was going. And unable to see didn't help.

In her haste to move her foot slid in something wet, possibly water or mud and down she went right into it. The coldness seeped through her clothing making it stick to her clothes stick to her skin. It wasn't water that much was sure. There wasn't much time to figure it out as she got to her feet and continued to move along the wall and through the tunnel of darkness.

Oh she had definitely flushed someone out of there. And then she heard the tell-tale sound of a splash, immediately deciding to head that way. They were headed towards a dark alley. Tiara made it to the entrance and shot two jinxes down the corridor, hoping to get lucky.

Kitty slowly pulled out her camera and snapped a picture of the room with the spells flying everywhere. It wasn't the best thing she could have done to remain hidden, but Kitty couldn't resist - she wanted a picture of the spells flying in the darkness.

Anyone see that?

What was that strange noise? A clicking sound.. something mechanical. Tiara took a step towards it, then thought otherwise. It was probably just some of the moving obstacles creaking. She would move on.

What had that been???

It sounded as if someone had bumped into an obstacle. Either it was one of her fellow classmates trying to find somewhere to hide... or it was Professor Tanner. The latter was something that she didn't want as she needed to stay under cover for as long as possible. It was a good idea for her to move somewhere else just to be safe.

Quickly Esme her way further along while still being careful to stay in the fog. It was getting harder and harder for her to see but she began to slow her pace as soon as she felt safer. Gingerly she made sure that her footing was secure and her arms were placed held out in front of her so that she could feel any obstacles before they came into contact with her. The moving ones made her slightly nervous.

You know what would be really fun.. Tiara aimed her wand at one of the whirring obstacles and charmed it, then another and yet another. She sent all three off towards the fog to flush out anyone hiding there.

Oh ho ho! What have we here? There was definitely movement over there; she had seen it out of the corner of her eye. She spun on the spot and took aim before firing off a jinx.
