Once the three minutes was up for letting the Boomslang venom and unicorn horn set, Tia added the mixture to her cauldron. Time to wait another three minutes and let that simmer. It seemed three minutes was the magic number here. Reading ahead, the seventh year noted she would need a clean mortar and pestle again, so she went ahead and cast another non-verbal scourgify on her mortar and pestle to clean it once more in preparation for the next step.
And the cleaning the mortar was enough time for the three minutes of letting her potion simmer to pass. To which she stirred the potion three times clockwise, before setting her stirrer to the side and reading ahead to determine what needed to be done next. More precise measurements, no doubt, given the nature of this potion.
