They were obviously good at this sneaking thing.

Naturally, Genny did not say anything to his orders. They sounded fine now, but she wasn't going to make any promises. If anyone caught them, she sure as hell was not going to wait for him to write something down as an explanation. She can explain just as much as him.

"Oooooh," her whisper must've reached his ears as fast as it went out of her mouth considering how close she was walking by his shoulder. "Do you think this rope is cursed?" Because securing something with a plain, normal rope was absurd.
Incriminating evidence all done and disposed of, Daxton led the way to the Restricted Section. What Genny Tate said made very little sense to him, which, while not unusual, was frustrating. He was much smarter than her, and so should understand whatever her little Gryffindor brain could come up with. The problem was that their brains seemed to work in such different ways that it was difficult to get on her level. But that was not an adequate excuse for Daxton. He wanted to understand everything, and it was stupid that something might be too simple. It did not make sense. In any case, he could not for the life of him work out what Genny Tate had meant by dressing 'properly'. She looked dressed enough to him, and there was no specific outfit that he knew of meant solely for trespassing into forbidden areas of school libraries.

Trying not to think too much about that, Daxton stepped up to the roped off section, Genny Tate by his side. It was the closest he had gotten to the Restricted Section, having thought it wise to steer clear of the place in the past. There were only so many times one could probably get caught around here without raising too much suspicion.

Genny Tate had a good point about the rope, and Daxton stopped to stare at it for a moment, as though he might spy traces of magic around it, which he knew would not be the case. It looked fairly ordinary to him, innocuous, but that meant nothing. Likelihood was that there was some sort of spell on it, a boundary at the very least. He cast a side glance to Genny Tate, considering giving her a shove forward (he could play it off as an accident, surely, as she was standing so close) to see if the rope was indeed under any magical effects. He decided against the shove in the end, purely because there was not exactly a surplus of other students willing to do as Daxton asked in his quest for knowledge. But he was not going to test the rope. The Gryffindor would still come in handy in that respect, just hopefully as the result of coercion.

Daxton crouched down, peering at the rope again, and then back up at the books in the Restricted Section. From where he stood, he could see some of the titles of the books on the shelves, tantalisingly just out of reach. They would need to know if they could get in, but first... Daxton straightened and moved down the rope little, squinting to see as many of the books as he could, trying to spot a title that may be of use to him. But it was no use; they needed a closer look, and even if they could see the right books, it would mean nothing if they could not get them. Glancing back at Genny Tate, Daxton gestured forward with a nod of his head, past the rope and towards the illicit books, hoping to convey the message 'let's go'.

And he might follow, too. Assuming there was no danger in crossing the boundary of the Restricted Section, proved by a Gryffindor guinea pig first year. But at the same time, he found it difficult to believe that even Genny Tate would be quite so willing to head straight inside.
