Impatient as ever, Rooney had completely obliterated his lip balm, warming it between his palms and aggressively rubbing it into his lips as the clock inched towards noon. It wasn't necessary, but it saved him from tearing up the parchment pile of homework for the Gryffindor girl he was waiting on. The parchment pile of homework that really didn't make any sense, because she hadn't asked him to do it, but he had. He'd done it to have reason to get her to see him whilst he was confident enough to get what he wanted. Or needed. It was hard to figure out if this was a want, a need, or both.

He sat on the middle step, occasionally shifting to let people past and thought about the note he had slipped into the pocket of her robes when he saw her the day previous.
