She had a variety of supplies floating behind her, because who could carry an owl in a cage PLUS a cauldron PLUS all the other supplies? NOT HER! She waltzed into the classroom and gave the professor a smile. "HIIIII, PROFESSOR!" she greeted. She deposited all her supplies near a work station then put on a white lab coat. "Do you need any help organizing?" she asked.

Art smiled gleefully at the first student to come through to the classroom, with her owl. “Good morning Miss. Greingoth,” he said, at the same time noting her method to bring all of her supplies with her. He looked down at his desk and shook his head. “I think we’re okay for now, thank you.”

No, she had run because she wanted to be early and because she thought Professor Newton with his rat pet was kind of cool…and intriguing. Especially since he had nearly killed them the last class.

What was he going to do now? Boil them….wait no, the hag lady already had that covered with Brody.

“Good morning Professor Newton” Melbourne grinned and turned to look over at Ariadne and grinned. “Hi Ariadne,” she grinned at the Slytherin girl that she had briefly met not only on the train but at almost every class this year. Still, she hadn’t spent hardly as much time with her as Tenacius had.

Grabbing a labcoat off of the wall Mel quickly shrugged it on before finding a workstation and placing her bag there momentarily. The first year reached into the bag and rummaged for a bit before pulling out a cauldron that had a precariously placed Owl’s cage inside of it and then she reached in once more and pulled out her potions supplies. “Be quiet Moriarty” she muttered at the bird in question and promptly began setting up her work station and cleaning her supplies as she did every class.

“Good morning Miss. Johanson,” Art greeted with a smile, as she came through with her owl. He watched approvingly of her method of preparing for the class.

Right brain?

*sigh*

"Good Morning Professor!" She said with a slightly false brightness as she set Snowy down on her desk and moved to get her Lab Coat.. "Hi Ariadne, Mell!" She said with another wave as she grabbed her coat and moved to sit down..

All right.. just breathe Azura.. It's not like you can confess to Jace AGAIN..

Right?

“Good morning Miss. Kennedy,” he greeted with a smile, giving a little nod to her owl.

She then proceeded to put on a lab coat before moving to find a seat.

"Hello, girls,''
she greeted Ariadne, Mel and Azura. The Eagle sat close by to all three of them, admiring their pets as she sat down. She noted that all three of them had owls but was sure that a variety of other creatures would be presented to the class. She wondered what Professor Art had in store for the said pets.

“Good morning Miss. Watson,” Art said with a smile, reaching up and giving Madame Curie a little stroke on the top of her head. She sniffed at his ear and he continued, “Madame Curie says hello.” How nice of her to remember the Potionmaster’s assistant and companion. He looked at her little pygmy puff and nodded approvingly.

And now they must bring her pet.

Ava walked into the potions classroom, grabbed her lab coat and of course she brought Preston with her cage. "Hi, Professor. I hope you're not gonna kill my cat today." Yes, she hope not.

Art let out a little laugh at the next student’s comment. “No, Miss. Burton, I’ve thrice checked the ingredients. And there will be no harm to the animals at all,” he added with a very serious look on his face. Animal activist Arthur Newton would never allow such a thing to happen in his classroom.

Somehow, she’d managed to conjure up a cage from somewhere, and thankfully it hadn’t been a long walk from her common room to the classroom. The Bengal cat hadn’t had long to complain about his situation.

She’d walked in to the classroom as if she wasn’t carrying an upset feline, idly glancing over at the professor’s rat. Maybe the cage was a good idea, since she could hope it kept the animals separate.

“Good morning Professor Newton,” she greeted the professor, giving him her usual smile as she settled into her normal seat. Even if she didn’t particularly trust him, she did respect the subject. She wasn’t about to give up her favorite subject just because the professor had poisoned her.

“Good morning Miss. Andrews,” Art said, smiling to the next student to walk in. He felt Madame Curie change her position on his shoulder, so that he was now hiding behind his neck. He let out a little laugh. “Well even if Madame Curie doesn’t think so, it’s nice to see a feline today.”

SPOILER!!: Zeke

Especially with all the brewing he did between everything else in his life. How he found time was beyond him... he wished he had a timeturner to make even BETTER use of his time.

"Morning, Professor," Zeke greeted as he entered the dungeon classroom, holding his owl cage in front of him. Icarus was not the happiest of black barn owls... preferring to be free and scouting for mice - this was evidenced by the bird's rabid attempts at breaking through its cage bars with its beak, wings flapping resulting in unkempt feathers. The squawking too would have been unbearable, had Zeke not thought to silence it on the way from the owlery.

Claiming a not-his-usual-seat somewhere in the centre of the room this time, Zeke began unpacking his things so he would be ready when they started. His peers, for those he bothered to acknowledge, received smiles and nods in greeting.

“Good morning Mr. Browne,” Art said with a smile, nodding to the owl he was carrying in. Art scratched his head, wondering if perhaps he could have come up with some way of brewing this potion without the animals present. But no, it just wouldn’t work.

SPOILER!!: Hady

Getting Hagan into a carrying cage hadn't been to hard honestly. In fact it had been rather easy as all she had done was tossed a blanket (which she had shrunk down) into the cage and picked her furry friend up putting him inside. Oh and she had maybe also put a toy for him inside the cage as well.

So as it was she entered the room with a small smile on her face. "Morning Professor," she greeted lightly making way for an empty desk. Setting the cage down beside her chair Hady then sat down removing her items from her bag and arranging them on her table neatly. A quick glance at her cat showed he was currently asleep not at all bothered by anything around them. Therefore she was ready to begin.

Art smiled as the next student came in. “Good morning Miss. Lynch,” he said, as Madame Curie climbed up the back of his head, perching himself on the top to glance curiously at the cat in her cage, which appeared to be asleep.

With his awesome SCREECH owl in his cage, Matt walked into the classroom and beamed. "Hiya, professor Newt! Madam Curry! People!" He put the cage he was holding on top of his work station and went off to get the lab coat with his NAME - aka Matt SOLO. "What Potion are we drinking today??" He asked excitedly.

He was READY TO BE POISONED AGAIN, YAS!

Ahh, it was Mr. Meriwether, who was always such a gleeful student. He paused just before he replied... Madame Curry? He almost chuckled. “Good morning Mr. Meriwether, Madame Curie says hello as well,” he said, the ratbaby still perched on the top of his head.

Grabbing her lab coat as she passed, Janelle head for her seat. "Hello Professor", she said on the way. Certainly they would be brewing something a little less......poisonous today. Setting the cage down, she donned her coat and headed off to wash her hands. That completed, Janelle spoke soothingly to her pet, as she readied her work station for class.

Art saw the second Pygmy Puff to enter the classroom. A pink one! “Hello Miss. Guidry,” he said.

SPOILER!!: Kitty

As a matter of fact, if she had pets then Kitty would have bene very worried right now. Back at home she had a large worm colony consisting of nine worms. Their names were Mystery, Guise, Sabby, Miles, NeeChee, Elsa, Anna, Phantom, and Moonston. Unfortunately worms were not one of the pets listed in the list of pets you could bring to Hogwarts, though Kitty planned to ask permission to bring them next term.

But her cage wasn't empty. Inside were the three clay worm familiars she had made in Transfiguration. The initial magic had worm off a long time ago, but Kitty had reanimated them this morning with a strand of her raven black hair.

She waved to Ariadne, Rachel, Azura, and Hady with her free hand as she passed them on her way to Art's desk, smiling at their cute owls and pygmy puff's (in Rachel's case) at the same time.

The Gothic girl came to a stop at Professor Art's desk. She smiled shyly at him and placed her cage on his desk so he could see her familiars."Morning Professor. Hey Madame Currie. I don't have any pets at Hogwarts, not even an owl. I use the school owls to send messages to my mom back home because she wouldn't let me have one. Back at home I have worms but I didn't know if I was allowed to bring them. So I brought my familiars even though they aren't alive and can't eat or drink anything, so they won't be able to take any potion."

“Good morning Miss. Valentine,” Art said, adding “Madame Curie says hello.” But then… hmm. Art glanced into the cage and saw… something… odd. “Familiars?” Hmm… “Err… well a-actually you will need an… an alive pet. But I have some… some toads you can use,” he said, getting a little cage with a toad inside and handing it to the young lady. Toads were… sort of like worms? “But they won’t be the ones taking the potion.” Nope.

SPOILER!!: Haddie

She placed the cage on the workstation and sat down next to her best friend. Almost immediately once her hands were free again, one hand shoot to her mouth as if she wanted to chew her fingernails to calm herself but didn't. A moment later she managed to pull her hand away again and looked down at Asher, her ferret, in his cage. Happy, peaceful...ALIVE! She suddenly had a pang of fear that she was never going to see him like this again.

Haddie opened her mouth to reassure the tube rat that she'd grown quite fond of over the school year, but all that came out was a timid, strangled squeak. She couldn't do it. She couldn't let a lie be the last thing she ever told her ferret. "Professor..." she choked out, and paused in an attempt to wet her mouth. "I-I don't know if this is a good idea. I really don't want to kill my ferret." And if she had to brew a potion to give to Asher, that was pretty much the most likely outcome that would happen.

She was sorry little tube rat. So very sorry.

“Hello Miss. Denaker,” Art said, nodding approvingly at her ferret. He hadn’t seen one of those yet. He listened to her concern, nodding. “Have no fear, no harm will come to you animals. And… well, you will be ingesting the potion, not your animal,” he said with a reassuring smile.

SPOILER!!: Sam

Plus, Ollie had always been allowed to roam as he pleased, having been adopted by her as an orphaned baby; he'd much rather be stretched out on her bed right now.

"S'okay, Ollie," she cooed to her rat as she entered the classroom. Maybe she should have asked Dora if she could have brought their shared pygmy puff instead. "I'll let yeh out as soon as I can, I promise. I ain't gonna let anyfink 'appen to yeh."

Now where to sit that didn't involve being too close to an owl or a cat? Ollie wasn't afraid of them, but better to be safe than sorry. Oh, Rachel had her pygmy puff? Awesome! "Mind if me 'n' Ollie join yeh?"

“Good morning Miss. Tyler,” Art said in greetings to the next student to walk in. He and Madame Curie were delighted to see a RAT was in the cage. He was glad to see that some students enjoyed the lovely company of rats.

Unethical, but hey at least the Professor wouldn’t have to worry about poisoned kids.

Tenacius had his toad all wrapped up in a moist towel when he walked in the Potions Classroom "Heya Mr N!" he greeted his Professor "You too Curry McFurry. This here is Quark!" he showed off the toad to the little rat, looking a bit like Jabba the Hutt stole some Jedi's robes.

He grabbed his lab coat and went towards his table, passing by Mel and Haddie along the way "Heya!" he greeted them.

“Ahh good morning Mr. Salander!” he said, grinning as he saw the toad. Marvellous! C… Curry McFurry? “Err… Madame Curie says… hello,” he improvised. It wasn’t exactly hello she was saying, but he didn’t want to embarrass the young man. “Quark! Hello Quark,” Art said, leaning across the table to get a look at it. He felt Madame Curie peering over the top of his head to take a look at the toad as well.

But the cage was what bothered the cat currently in Olivia’s possession as she entered the classroom with the rest of the usual potions requirements.

"Chill…” she told the cat, briefly pausing to give her a scratch in hopes to keep her calm. That and to put on her lab coat to be ready herself. “Good morning Professor,” she greeted the man, “Hello Madam Curie,” she added to the rat, being sure to keep a certain feline from catching sight of the rodent. Olivia had nearly forgotten about that potential conflict. Making her way to an available seat, she acknowledged those she cared to. “Hey…” to Rachel, Hady, Haddie and Sam, a nod of hello to Zeke in passing.

“Good Morning Miss. Stone,” he said with a smile. “Madame Curie says hello,” he said. And she did say hello, although she had gone back to hiding behind on the collar behind his neck.

As she passed by fellow students, she greeted them with a quiet smile. Making friends was not Elora's strong suit, but she was working on it.

Passing by the Professor's desk on the way back to her seat, she turned smiling and said "Good morning, Professor! And hello to you, Madame Curie." When back at her seat, she placed the cage containing her Pygmy Puff, Lela, on the table. "Morning, Lela." she whispered.

With that, Elora sat down and waited for the Professor to begin.

“Good morning Miss. DeRellington,” Art said with a smile. “Madame Curie says hello,” he added. She wasn’t afraid of Pygmy Puffs, so the little ratbaby had climbed back to his shoulder to glance over the class.

SPOILER!!: Jaemin
Quote:
Originally Posted by Ameh View Post

Jaemin tentatively stepped into the classroom, his steps faltering in the doorway as he clutched the little travel cage. Sniffler was not a fan of the cage, because there was very little room for rolling running about and it was not as warm and comfortable as the way he was normally carried, but his actual hutch thingy was way too big to be carrying around and since Jaemin's pocket didn't qualify as a cage... the seemingly vaguely disgruntled hedgehog was nestled inside, sniffing every so often. The boy's hesitation, however, did not come from the hedgehog's anger over being inside a small space, but rather, the place into which he was bringing the small space.

The small Slytherin had no qualms with testing his potions on himself. If he messed it up, then it was no big deal - he could, realistically, either fix it, or find someone else to fix it. He could say when there was a problem, and make it extremely obvious. However... Sniffler had no such ability. And after the one Potions session had happened, with the Things Have Gone Wrong Elixir and the class ending up slightly poisoned and some people vomiting everywhere... Jaemin was not exactly sure if he really wanted to bring his pet here. He had strongly considered pretending he didn't have a pet at all, actually; he'd sat in his dorm for a very long time, looking at Sniffler and wondering if he had it in him to deny his friendship to the world, just to possibly save his tiny life. But he couldn't do that, because he didn't want to get in trouble, or offend the tiny hedgehog should someone decide to tell him that Jaemin was spreading untruths.

"Hello professor," the small boy whispered, rushing away to a station to set Sniffler (and the cauldron of stuff hanging precariously from his fingertips beneath the hedgehog's cage) down before moving to get his little white coat thingy. He was back at the workstation within a moment, worried to leave his tiny pet alone. There were a lot of others here, and a lot of... larger... carnivorous... pets...

The boy popped up onto his seat, pulled the cage into his lap, and wrapped himself around it.

“Hello Mr. Song,” Art said with a smile. “Do you need a hand?” he asked, noticing the young man with all of his supplies. He also noticed that he had a hedgehog… hmm, he hadn’t thought of that pet. He had a quick brainstorm about what he could do with that one…

SPOILER!!: Scarlett

But at the same time, she was sure that nothing THAT harmful would come to her pet. There was no way they would allow that to happen!

Taking Snowball's kitty carrier and setting it on her desk, she smiled and waved to the professor. "Hello Professor!" she said happily. She wanted him to know that she TOTALLY had confidence in him not to kill her cat. It was sure to put him in a better mood and lower the likelihood that any ACCIDENTS would happen.

Snowball, on the other hand, was not as confidence and began to wail loudly in protest, pawing at the cage door. He wanted OUT. He'd been enjoying a nice nap on her bed, thank you very much.

And another cat came in, causing Madame Curie to scurry back to her hiding place, on the collar of his lab coat. “Hello Miss. Reynolds,” he replied with a smile.

Art looked at the time, and there was still a little bit to go before it was time to close the doors and get on with things. He wanted to leave a little more time for other students to come, but in the mean time he turned to the class. "So, everyone... do you uhh... does anyone have any ideas as to why I asked you to bring your... your pets?" he asked.

OOC: Still time to post your characters arriving! I'll continue in a few hours.
