Fluttery Pegasi Haddie entered the potions classroom, wide-eyed and almost imperceptibly shaking with nerves. Her breaths were shallow and anxious, and she keep glancing at the caged ferret she was holding with concern. Small little worried whimpers occasionally escaped her as she trudged her way, terrified and defeated, to where Rachel was.
She placed the cage on the workstation and sat down next to her best friend. Almost immediately once her hands were free again, one hand shoot to her mouth as if she wanted to chew her fingernails to calm herself but didn't. A moment later she managed to pull her hand away again and looked down at Asher, her ferret, in his cage. Happy, peaceful...ALIVE! She suddenly had a pang of fear that she was never going to see him like this again.
Haddie opened her mouth to reassure the tube rat that she'd grown quite fond of over the school year, but all that came out was a timid, strangled squeak. She couldn't do it. She couldn't let a lie be the last thing she ever told her ferret. "Professor..." she choked out, and paused in an attempt to wet her mouth. "I-I don't know if this is a good idea. I really don't want to kill my ferret." And if she had to brew a potion to give to Asher, that was pretty much the most likely outcome that would happen.
She was sorry little tube rat. So very sorry.
