Here she went, actually practicing the spell. "Skurge.'' The three leaf clover movement was completed with Rachel keeping her wrist tight and commanding the spell as best as she could. She did not expect green sparks to come shooting out on her first attempt and it was certainly a good thing she hadn't set her hopes up.
Not so much of a flash of light made itself seen. "Skurge.'' The girl tried again, repeating all of the previous steps but they still yielded nothing whatsoever. "Skurge.'' Nada. "Skurge.'' Zilch. Rachel bit her lower lip, staring at the dummy. It was possible she needed to be more commanding and confident. Quote:

The Eagle raised her wand once more. "Skurge.'' Just as before, she repeated each of the steps- the wand movement, the confidence in her voice and so forth. She suddenly found herself blinking. Did that just happen? Surely her eyes had not deceived her for a tiny amount of green sparks flew from her wand. Rachel gave an excited little squeak. If she kept up this, she would make the dummy back away soon! It took Haddie a moment to catch on to the fact Rachel said anything and got up. The blonde had been absently practicing the wand movement while her mind wandered. Her hand would get used to the movement with or without her focus present, and without casting the spell there was no way to know if she was doing it correctly or not. So her mind wasn't need. "Huh?" Haddie blinked at her friend before the words finally clicked. "About time!" She jumped clumsily to her feet and followed Rachel down to the dummies looking relieved. Did she mention she learned by doing, not practicing? As was Haddie's usual way when it came to trickier wand movements, she stood back slightly and watched. She watched those who didn't succeed, and those, like Azzy and Other Hady, who did, looking for the differences. She also committed the successful wand movements to memory, mimicking them on the spot as she did. Got it. She was confident she'd succeed now. If not the first try, soon after. Rachel on the other hand... Her BFF was never good at being forceful and demanding, two thing that were needed for spellcasting. Oh, Freckle Face would get it, but it took her a handful of tries or more. Not that there was anything wrong with that, but Rachel was talented and could probably get them first try if she wasn't so wishy-washy about demanding stuff. "You need give an order, not make a request." An idea struck her. "Pretend you're me when you cast." Haddie had no problem being demanding. It was a flaw of hers, but as it was beneficial to her spellcasting, not one she was inclined to change. Not like she would be inclined to change it even if it didn't help...
Showtime! Haddie stepped up and aimed her wand at their dummy and made the three leaf clover motion the way Azzy and Hady had done. "Skurge!" Oh there was green alright. A powerful and bright flash of green that filled the room like lightning lighting up the night sky, but it didn't hit the dummy. It didn't hit anything really. It just blasted Haddie's wand hand back and up, propelling her hand into her face with so much force it knocked her off her feet. She landed on her butt two feet from where she'd been standing. Pain shot up her spine momentarily but faded away just as fast. But her tailbone was now throbbing in time with her nose and face.
Something warm and wet trickled onto her lips, and she tasted copper. Reaching up, Haddie wiped her nose with her finger and glanced down at it. Blood. She'd given herself a bloody nose. At least it wasn't broken. That was Fairy Princess' thing. "I'm opay! I'm fine!" Haddie aimed Kira the wand at her nose, not 100% sure about doing so after that performance, but her nose was gushing pretty bad. "Efipey!" She sighed. It was hard pronouncing the charm when her nose was in a state. "Efipthey! Epithey! Epithkey!" Dang it! "Epith...Episkey!" Her nose stopped throbbing, and the blood stopped.
