Where was Haddie? She wondered for a moment before leaning against the statue. Perfect vantage point. The small unholy hand of a pre-teen California girl, twisted and contorted into talons, reached out of the shadows behind the statue. In a flash it seized the lioness' shoulder with a haunting roar, that was, quite frankly, rather pitiful. The eagle popped out from behind the statue a moment later, laughing her little head off. "I got you," she claimed. Whether or not she actually did get Melon didn't matter in the least.
Still grinning and chuckling to herself, Haddie dug Mel's gifts out of her bag and handed them over. They were wrapped with paper that featured a cartoonish, sort of crazed looking Rudolph on them. Naturally, that was the wrapping paper Haddie picked. They were two books. Lame, she knew but, they were the best she could think of. One of the book was a 1001 magical pranks. It had a small disclaimer not to try them at your place of school or work, so naturally, that was where they had to do try them. The second one was one of those survival scenario books for kids and teens. How to survive any magical catastrophe. Which, honestly, was better for ideas of how to get them into trouble rather than get them out of trouble.
So, yeah. Books, lame and all that, in terms of gifts at least. But these books would provide her Gryffindor bestie and fellow adventurer lots of non-booky fun. "Did you have a good Christmas?"
