| curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog Portrayed by Adam Driver Alexander Salazar Greingoth III +Birthday: March 17th, 2062 +Hair: Just shy of shoulder length, brown and wavy +Eyes: Brown +Build: Tall and skinny +Height: 6'2" +House: Hufflepuff +Position: Senior Botanist +Former Position: Runes Expert, Belgium Ministry Personality:
Alex isn't much of a daredevil, which can sometimes make him seem unsocial. It's safe to say he didn't inherit ANY of the Gryffindor from his family (along with the Slytherin of course, but that was obvious). He is, in fact, quite the opposite--he loves talking to people and making new friends, he just likes to do it in a safe, non embarrassing manner! However, every once in a while he may be swayed into doing something...he tends to be too trusting at times which can get him in trouble. Another thing that might get him into trouble? Sarcasm, which is especially a problem when he's dealing with his sister!
He also likes to read a lot, just to learn random knowledge--in fact, he's like a walking encyclopedia at times, and knows a bunch of useless, pointless facts that almost no one would ever need to know. Don't let that fool you into thinking he ENJOYED school, however. He was never the best at school and never really stood out with his grades, but around his sixth year, he took a real liking to Ancient Runes.
When it comes to being social, Alex is friendly to just about everyone, and usually won't be mean unless that person did something to him to warrant that kind of behavior. He tends to forgive pretty quickly though (again, going back to that too trusting thing). Some likes:
+Watching Quidditch. His favorite professional team is the Wimbourne Wasps and he has his sister's Holyhead Harpies professional poster that he will NEVER admit to her that he owns...
+Drawing and sketching things. He's particularly good at drawing pictures of magical creatures
+Muggle television. It's so addiciting!
+Music. Muggle rock, wizard rock, it doesn't matter...if it's rockin', he'll be listening to it!
+Being outdoors (unless its cold and snowy out)
+Christmas!!! (although again, being inside during Christmas and not out in the cold) Some dislikes:
+When Sierra pulls pranks on him
+Rude people. Is it really that hard to be nice and polite?
+Sunflowers. They make him sneeze.
+ Being the ONLY Badger in the family
+His middle name
+Cold weather
+His "adoptive" father Some fears:
+Frogs. Something about the way they stare at you and their long, weird looking legs (which some people EAT by the way, gross!) just irks him
+Dementors. If he ever had to face one, he'd probably faint before he had a chance to even THINK of performing the patronus charm.
+Blood. He's just a tad squimish.
+Snakes. Yet another reason he shouldn't be in Slytherin.
+Getting burnt. Some of his most terrifying memories of his childhood included dropping chicken soup on his hand, burning his arm trying to take pizza out of the oven...you get the picture. +Sierra Hogwarts History
Alexander Salazar Greingoth has always been the cautious one in the Geingoth family. He was born on March 17th, just 4 minutes before his sister Sierra, something he tries (and fails) to throw in her face sometimes. He was always rather hyper as a child when he was playing with his sister and neighborhood friends, but numerous clumsy accidents caused him to become rather timid and shy out of fear of hurting himself. All those years of scraping his knees and falling out of trees conditioned him to be a rather cautious fellow, but that's not really a bad thing, right?
Like many pureblood wizards, Alex and Sierra were both homeschooled during their early childhood, rather than being sent to public Muggle school. Alex didn't really mind it at all...he found it rather enjoyable to be able to study math in his living room with the family dog at his side. While his sister longed for the company of lots of students, Alex convinced himself that there would be plenty of time to make friends when he got to Hogwarts, and was totally content playing with the kids who lived down the street. He also liked playing with Anna, his older sister, until she went off to school and got sorted into Gryffindor
Ever since Alex can remember, he wanted to be in Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Gryffindor...anywhere BUT Slytherin. Not that he didn't like snakes, he just liked the other houses better--plus he really didn't think he could survive with all those cunning and scary people. Still there was lots of pressure from the family to be in Slytherin or Gryffindor (he was even named after one of the founders for Merlin's sake!), just like everyone else in his family, making his desire to possibly be--gasp, HUFFLEPUFF!--a rather strange thing.
Tensions arose during his first year in school when Sierra and Alex's parents went through a divorce, and the children were forced to decide who they would live with. Naturally, Sierra chose to live with Alexander (their father) while Alex stayed behind to live with their mother Bella. Many arguments escalated between the twins until it was to the point where neither of them were speaking to each other, but with the help of Professor Lafay, they made amends and were back on good terms.
During his third year at Hogwarts, Alex went through some tough times. Once he finally got used to the idea of having divorced parents, he was introduced to the man who was REALLY his father - Paul DeSautel. It was a lot for him to handle at first - after all, he was a TWIN, how could he possibly have a different father than his sister?? It was true, however, and Alex had trouble trusting his mother Bella after that. However, some good came out of the meeting - Paul was much more similar to Alex than Alexander II had ever been, and Alex felt comforted with the fact that there was finally an explanation as to why he'd always felt so out of place around his father. Sadly, shortly after he met his birth father, his mother Bella passed away, and rather than move in with his new father, he chose to live with his older sister Anna and her husband Cale, where he helped take care of their young children over the summer in exchange for a place to stay. However he only stayed there for one summer and after returning to Hogwarts for his fourth year, he decided to stay with his father.
The rest of his time at Hogwarts was uneventful. As he and his sister grew further apart, he began to draw into himself more. He formed a good relationship with his father, and decided to focus his last few years at school trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his life. Eventually, with the help of Professor Botros, he discovered what he wanted to do - he wanted to work with Runes. He began to dedicate all his time to the subject and upon graduating Hogwarts, he moved to Belgium and took a job working with Runes and using them to harvest wood from wand trees and using them to create more powerful wands that helped with spellwork.
After leaving for Belgium, Alex cut off pretty much all ties with the Greingoth family. He does send Christmas cards each year, just to let them know he's still alive, but that is pretty much it. More Recent History
Up until this year, Alex was perfectly content with his life in Belgium. In fact, he was in the process of applying to be a Professor of Ancient Runes at Durmstrang and moving with his girlfriend of five years (and only girlfriend ever), Felicia Grevisse. However, right before he was ready to submit his application, Felicia left him for the Belgium Minister's son Claude and broke his heart in the process. Heartbroken and not sure where to go, Alex made a rash decision to quit his job and decided to move back to someplace familiar - London. Normally not one to do something so reckless, he felt it was time for a fresh start and just had to get out of the country as soon as he could.
After Felicia left him, Alex did some serious thinking and decided he was not going to just abandon his roots and the Greingoth family. As much as he hates being the black sheep, he knew he would hate it even more if he completely left the family all together and never spoke to them again. Flawed as they may be, and despite his true parentage, he still considered them family for the majority of his life and vows to make amends with them, especially his sister Sierra. Random Facts:
+Alex has lots of scars, surprise surprise.
+His favorite meal of the day is breakfast.
+One of his secret wishes is to own a Clabbert at some point in his life - he's still working on this.
+When he was 8, he got into an accident with a toy broom and was terrified of flying for years afterwards. He eventually did overcome his fear of flying and played Quidditch for Hufflepuff while at school.
+He considered changing his last name to DeSautel, but he couldn't bring himself to do it
+Alex now lives in a studio apartment in London with his Irish Wolfhound, Gunner (who takes up more space in the apartment than Alex would like, being so big, but he doesn't care because HE IS JUST SO CUTE)
+Alex is allergic to strawberries
+Due to living in Belgium for so many years, he is fluent in Dutch and also in German
