And just like that, his joy at this Herbology lesson had been shot to hell.
Blaise looked down at his halves of trees, the ones he'd so diligently cut for them to fit. A couple months didn't sound so long. Why did they need to have it done instantly? That was the problem with kids in this day and age, always wanting everything done immediately. No patience whatsoever. Then you had him who would have waited a year if it meant not needing to use his wand.
The boy's face fell into a sullen sort of expression as he pieced the two halves together. They fit perfectly as he knew they would. That was what his hard work had gotten him but now his hard work would only get him so far.
The tape fixed the them together neatly and for a moment he just stared. What was so wrong with leaving it like this? Didn't the Professor say it would fuse on its own anyway?
Why did there REALLY need to be magical interference into something so...so...natural?
Finally, when he did speak, it wasn't to utter the incantation but rather a defeated mutter of, "I can't do it."--And not just because his wand was back up in his dorm, though that DID play a part in it too.
But maybe it didn't matter. He was done. His trees would become one in a couple months anyway...yeah?
