SPOILER!!: Mason
Quote:
Animating? As like in bringing it to live?

Just when Mason thought this class couldn't get any cooler (well apart from the whole crying thing)

Her crow had gotten along nicely. Mason was no artist, so the little clay-figurine was a great accomplishment to her.

Piertotum Locomotor Anne-what-is?

Mason looked at her little figure and whispered the words, practising the foreign sounds, "Pier-TO-tum Lo-CO-motor An-NEXus."

Pier-TO-tum Lo-CO-motor An-NEXus.

Pier-TO-tum Lo-CO-motor An-NEXus.

Pier-TO-tum Lo-CO-motor An-NEXus.

When she had practised the words enough, Mason pulled out her Yew wand and pointed it directly at the little crow. "Pier-TO-tum Lo-CO-motor An-NEXus!" Mason said the spell as loudly and as clearly as she could. She even did the little flourish-thingy with her wand.

Nothing. Silence. Nada. Zippo.

Um, what?

And then she saw it. Her desk turning blue before settling back to the original wooden form. Oh sweet baby Merlin, some of her tears had fallen onto the desk while she was crying.

NO! NO! NO! HELL NO!

Oh Merlin. . . had she just animated her desk?!

0______0

"PROFESSOR!!!!!"

==================

Oh my Merlin, really??!!

Mason was freaking out because um, hallo, she had just animated her FRIKEN' DESK!

And she was definitely not going to make matters worse by actually talking to a desk, much less ask it to do a back-flip. Seriously?!! Just when things started going her way, bad things like this always happened.

Well clearly nobody was noticing how she was literally having a breakdown. She just gave Haddie nervous smile back. She seriously felt like she was going to vomit. That'll probably make the desk's bond to her even stronger. GREAT!

"Well isn't this just SPLENDID!!!!" she shrieked as the table roiled and gave a little jerk. Now the thing was bloody mocking her too?

"Professor! I realllllyyyyy need your help!" she basically shrieked, "What do I do?!"

Was literally nobody even going to try and help her? A First-Year whom ahd clearly no control over anything.

Again FAN-FRIKEN'-TASTIC!

The screaming was really very unnecessary. Nana cringed, her sensitive ears ringing at the panicked call from Miss Stevens. "Amaterasu." It was one thing right after the other today. Bleeding, dead snails and now screaming children and.... Animated desks. Nana sighed internally as she made her way over to where the student was still sitting and being praised by her fellows. "Miss Stevens, the classroom is not the length of a Quidditch field is it? You have no reason to be screaming. Should you need my attention in the future and it is not an emergency, I suggest you raise your hand and not your voice." Tucking back a lock of her hair, Nana wearily eyed the desk. "This does not count as success. If you had performed the spell correctly there would not have been a possibility to animate and bind something to you without your dna." Nana explained calmly. Taking out her wand she pointed at the desk. "Finite."

"Miss Stevens." Her tone was softer now, no need for a further reprimand. "I want you to try again. Take your time, and focus on your intent to animate and bind, not simply to animate..." Perhaps she ought to say something encouraging here... Encouraging, but not too sweet. Hm. "It is not failure until you stop trying." She gave a nod and was about to walk back to the front of the class, when she decided to better watch the class' progress by taking another turn about.

Good, good.
See was seeing concentration, dedication and even a few successes. Nice to see that despite all the interruptions her students were still carrying on diligently in their work. They were a good bunch, an excellent bunch. She took back all her unkind thoughts from the feast.

SPOILER!!: Hady Lynch
Quote:
When both younger girls were sorted and Professor Ichihara moved on with her lesson Hady made sure to pay full attention. Like ALL of her attention. Every single ounce of it was on Nana and what was being said. This was her familiar and she wasn't going to mess things up. She did have a question though. It wasn't the most important one but she was curious about it. "Professor there's just something I'm wandering. If your familiar is like a connection of yourself would it be at all similar to the form of your patronus or animagus? Or won't any of those creatures be connected in anyway?" Her patronus was a Fennec Fox yet when she began modeling her clay and let her hands do all the work she ended up with a Hedgehog. What was up with that?

"An interesting question, Miss Lynch." Nana said, giving the Slytherin a small smile. "A wizard's Corporal Patronus and Animagus form are example's of that wizard's personality and are considered another extension of the self and the spirit. Familiars, true Familiars like our Kitsune might have been are not a reflection on their wizard partner. They are their own spirit, their own entity bound closely to yours. They will listen to you, love you and even die for you, but they are not you. Think of them as an animal soulmate."

"Does anyone else have any questions?" Nana asked, turning her full attention back to the class.

SPOILER!!: Denaker
Quote:
It was disappointing because unless she told it to do something, it didn't really do anything beyond that. Like had been discussed earlier there wasn't much will of its own in there. And that was distressing to Haddie. "Professor, is there really know way to give it its own will and thoughts?" She thought there had to be, that she'd seen it before. La Rue, the magical measuring tape came to mind, but the more she thought of it, the more he could simply be doing what was told of him, just with his own mini personality shining through. Wait, she had seen it before. In History of Magic.

"The portraits. They're inanimate. They're just spelled to be alive and be a small reflection of the subject painted, right? I mean they'll never be as full, complex or real as the wizard or witch whose portrait it is, but they certainly have traits from that person, and the ability to think, and act on their own. So why can't that same sort of thing be applied to our clay familiars?"

Ahhhh. There was Miss Denaker. SHe'd been expecting it. "No. There's is no way to give an Insentient Familiar it's own thoughts and feelings. It will have a semblance of a personality, the same way portraits do, but it will never be truly alive. The magic is what gives weaker formed familiars their rebellious streak." She added with a small smirk.

OOC: Hi guys. Plenty of time left to complete the activity or catch up if you're just jumping in. Next Move-on post will be in... 18 hours.
