"No, no you did not," he chuckled. "Allow me to rephrase." Not that the man was actually asking permission. "Why do you want to move?" Want. The boy's own word. It was...an intriguing choice. The thing was, Daxton could watch Airey Flamsteed as closely as he liked, but that did not mean he understood the man's reactions in the slightest. The most he could do was make an educated guess, or at least file information away to review on a later date, when he had learned more about people and their general social behaviours, or to predict the outcome of future interactions.
Right now, Daxton could not be sure if he was being laughed at or not. The chuckle said that he was, yet he had said nothing that could possibly be considered funny, at least not to his understanding. Not that that had stopped people laughing at him in the past.
His thoughts on the matter were interrupted by the rephrased question, and for a long moment, Daxton simply stood there and did not react. That had been the question he had been expecting, had prepared for, but now that it had been posed to him out loud, by Airey Flamsteed, no less, Daxton suddenly found that the reality of his mentally rehearsed conversation was not only totally different to what he had expected, but way out of his comfort zone. Not until it had actually been asked of him (rather than a hypothetical question in his head) did a new thought, a new answer he had not yet considered, suddenly spark in his mind. It threw him entirely.
Daxton looked away from Airey Flamsteed at once, frowning in thought as the new possibility set off hundreds of tiny sub-thoughts, which in turn set off hundreds more. He felt something tighten in his chest as the unexpected train of thought threatened to overwhelm him, and he very quickly pushed it all to the back of his mind. Looking back to the professor, focusing on his tie instead of looking anywhere near his face, Daxton fixed an unreadable expression onto his features and gave a shrug, followed by a shake of the head. No reason. Nothing.
Nothing. Nothing. It was nothing. Absolutely nothing and it did not matter at all and Daxton did not care because it was nothing.
The Ravenclaw gestured to the bubble that still surrounded his face, trying to non-verbally communicate that he wanted Airey Flamsteed to get rid of it now.
