She was being completely irrational, she knew. She had no real reason to be afraid of the dog, however, she couldn't control it. She was also perfectly aware of the fact that she wasn't impressing the professor at all. The man was probably a second away from shooing her away. How could a girl terrified of good ole dogs attend a proper CoMC lesson where they would have to deal with bigger and deadlier creatures, after all? No, she could control the fear. She was a true Ravenclaw, the Hat had placed her so without even touching her head. She was the child of logic, and the logic clearly stated her to trust the professor.
A deeeeeeeeeeeep breath... and let the game of impressing this man begin.
"No, sir, I'm fine," she said and even tried to smile. She sounded weak and was still sitting at the chair's edge, but she looked more in control now. "I promise I'm better with other animals," she said, although it was a lie... sort of. She'd never seen any other animal except for sheep and cows, which weren't even magical, so she didn't really know how she would do in the presence of, say, a bowtruckle. Anyway.
"As I asked before," which he might not have heard due to the weakness of her voice, "can I attend the classes even though I'm a first year? I won't touch anything, I promise! I'll just watch." She just wanted a head-start in this subject.
