He raised his eyebrows when she used the words to describe him. So he hated anyone who wasn't a pure blood. That didn't seem right. "Well hate to break it to Davie but everyone mostly here is a half blood or muggle born. There is rarely pure bloods anymore." It was just genetics. "So he must hate me because I am a half blood." Yup his mother was a witch and his father was the most muggle you could ever meet. He usually went to his aunts house to practice magic. "You're gonna punch him yourself..?" he asked skeptically. "Do you want to get into detention?" he asked her. I mean he was all for it but he was looking out for her. She was only a first year after all. She blinked, confused. It seemed like she was missing something. "Huh?" She shook her head. "I don't know about any of that. He just..." She let out a frustrated sigh and leaned forward to rest her head in her hands a moment. She still wouldn't look at him, not until her eyes stopped tearing. "No. I don't know... but he probably doesn't hate you for being half-blood. You still knew about magic and magical history right? Then you're safe I think."
Others had talked about blood status or something before, but she'd never learned what it meant. Another thing Davie would hate her for, no doubt. Still, Haddie couldn't help but think the misunderstanding had something to do with that term. She kept her focus on the grass, letting her mind form pictures and patterns in the texture. "Maybe he just hates me for being muggle-born." She shrugged and sat back, eyes focused on the lion again. "Yeah," her voice was soft. "I am going to punch him. In his stupid nose." Not like she's never had detention before. Maybe not a Hogwarts, but she's had detention plenty of times.
