I thought the food fight looked like an excuse to target that hag." To clarify, David meant, "You know, the one teaching Divination this term." IF THAT WAS HER REAL REASON TO BE HERE ANYWAY.

"Yeah. Definitely a Ravenclaw thing." Davie agreed just because it was the easiest explanation. "Yes! Brilliant!" See, this was why he kept Gryffindors around. They were pretty good at coming up with money-making enterprises. "We should sneakily advertise the dragon-fighting in our classes, you know, in that time before the professor starts talking, and then we get people to come down to the courtyard to pay and watch, and we can make stuff more exciting by adding in a Jack Stone and a snake pit and maybe even something that explodes, like in Snap..." Blaise was a wizard kid; he'd understand the gobstones and Exploding Snap references there. Yes, this was a great plan!!

Okay so he had to train his quill. Right. That was smarter than he'd thought. "I see..." David nodded and set his quill up to balance on his now-open journal. "Do I start with, uh, a command to take my name down?" He glanced out toward the hall again with a chuckle of agreement for Blaise. "Have you seen the crop of kids this year? Buncha girls." Girls with pretty hair and smart smiles and ignorance about who Harry Potter was. PFFT. As IF he even wanted to talk about them. He did.

Oh, and before they forgot, because of the first-year-weirdos... "Which chocolate frog cards do you want to trade?"

Why? Now wasn't THAT the question of the year. He must have been asked it a million times by now. He could probably give a detailed explanation in his sleep! "Because they were mean to Bentley and I don't take kindly to that. They were being jerks to him on the train so we returned the favour at the feast--but Sir Nick did tell us to attack the Hag. I got her in the face...before she told me I was gonna choke on food and plants would get me--hey, mate, you don't think she can really see the future...do you?" Not that he was worried per say but...you know...he kinda liked this living thing and always dreamed he'd die a more heroic death that his quill would take down.

And THIS was one of many reasons he was friends with David Truebridge. Snake pits? Explosions??? "Yes! Yeeesss!!! I can have my quill draft up a note then you can duplicate 'em and we can pass 'em out before the Professor starts talking." Why would he be on duplication duty? Um...hello...when was the last time Davie saw Blaise and his wand in the same room? "Courtyard's too obvious though. Why not in the trees near the pathways?" In 48 hrs, Blaise had already gotten in enough trouble to last him a lifetime.

He nodded firmly to his friend's question on the quill, ignoring his own that had still been taking notes. "Make it a command, like this." He turned to his own quill with an expectant look. "Blaise Bellaire." And away it scribbled, adding fancy titles as it went along. When it was done, Blaise extended it for Davie to see. "Now you try."

Speaking of cards--yes he was aware they were ranting about First Years as if they hadn't been them, kid could multi-task--he shoved a small stack toward him. [b]"Those are all duplicates, you can take a look at the ones you might need. "Got three Circes, an extra Cliodna, two Andros, another Queen Maeve and Wendelin the Weird--like half the girls your probably talking about." Because he had noticed them too, as busy as he'd been. "I guess one or two of 'em is alright." But he didn't make a habit of talking to them. He had GUY friends his own age he'd rather hang out with.
